What files are safe to delete in File Manager?

Earlier I uploaded my website which I made with Frontpage 2002. Now, I designed a new website with Dreamweaver 8 using the same domain name and I want to upload it again. I want to delete the previous website in File Manager. What files should I delete and what files should I not touch? Please help?

You can safely delete everything inside the public_html directory if you no-longer need it.

What if I accidentally uploaded a bunch of files to the main directory. How do I know what to "clean".

I also uploaded some junk to my current directory. Is there any way to see what I can take out? I am a newbie and am wondering if it is just better to restart my web site and reload the whole dang thing...
