I was wondering, what would be a good size for people to post images of products for a classifieds?

I have a script asking me:

Maximum size of uploaded file:
Set the maximum file size (in bytes) that a user may upload.

I wanted to know, what frihost guru's think would be appropriate, just dont want to use alot of space on the servers...

I am thinking the same but I am not too sure what the max file size should be. I dont want my space to be gone after only a few images have been put up. The last time I checked the max_upload was 5MB but if you were uploading images that size all the time you will just run low on space very fast. I was thinking the max for might site will be somehwere between 200-300KB and people can upload them to image hosts sometimes and just enter the url.

For non-animated images, I think 200kb should be more than enough.
Have your members make the images in JPEG if PNG is too big.

If you are getting complaints of the size being too short, I'd suggest around 300kb, but not more.

I think that 300K should be max or even 250K would work.

I have full (1024x768) images on my computer that are only 200-300K and they are JPEG which saves a lot of space. Very Happy
