Howdy,
I am currently finishing up my graduate work in education and this fall I will most likely be working somewhere as a high school social studies educator.
One thing I'd like to do is maintain a class website throughout the year. On the one hand, this would serve a logistical purpose (maintain communication with students/parents, serve as a record of what we've done, etc), I'd also like it to be somewhat interesting for students to visit on a weekly basis or so.
What key features would you add to this website?
So far, things I am considering are...
Summary of each day's class (for absent students)
Copies of assignments handed out in class (in case you lose it, or you are absent)
Forum (for students to discuss assignments and such)
Links to interesting, recent news stories
Random quotes/facts of the day
Links to useful resources (especially useful for independent study projects)
Anyhow, those are the basic ideas that I've got. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be muchly appreciated.
