Well recently I downloaded and installed ubuntu 7.04. I'm on a Toshiba L35 laptop. Well my sound isn't working for some reason. I had a problem simalar with both Dapper and Edgy. I don't understand why this is doing this though. Can anyone help me out here?
Should i try re-installing alsa?
Is your sound hardware detected properly?
please post the output of
$ lspci
also check whether alsa is muted or not.
Also, if you have another jack for audio, give that a try. On my desktop, I had onboard audio, as well as a pci card, and it kept trying to send sound through the onboard audio. There's a way to set the default for either one, but I forget the command. If you find that using the audio jack on the laptop works, but the built in sound doesn't, let me know, and I'll see if I can find the setting to switch it.
You have to remember that Feisty, which I have installed, is in Beta development. True, it is to be released into full production soon, but it has not yet been released as such.
I would recommend you try to downgrade to Edgy, see if it works there. If it does, well, then it is Edgy and the new elements of the release that are messing with your sound.
Your card seems to be recognized.
Try running alsa-mixer and increase everything to max and then try.
So how did you fix it? Because I have the same problem.
