Math Question (Exponents)

Sparda
Lets say I have the following problem:

(-6)0

Would the answer be -1?

Lets say I have the following problem:

x20
x4

Would the answer be x16?

Also, lets say I have the following problem:

(3)-2

What would the answer be?
I need a little help please.
Cibes
Hi Sparda,
(-6)^0 would be 1, because any number raised to the 0 power are by definition 1.

x^20 / x^4 would indeed be x^16, you just subtract the powers in fractions. On the other hand for products you would add them up: x^20 * x^4 = x^24

3^(-2) equals 1/(3^2) which would be 1/9, the negative in front of the power just inverts your numbers ( 2 => 1/2 )

I hope this helps you out!

This was very helpful. Thank you Cibes.
