frihost.com/forums redirect

coreymanshack
I noticed earlier when i didn't feel like typing out www.frihost.com/forums and used frihost.com/forums instead, i got a wierd acting redirect that was like this... http://www.frihost.com/forums//home/frih/public_html/forums
and that doesn't take me to the forums Sad.... I suggest a fix or something?
tidruG
That's an Apache issue. I think it's been brought out before.

You have to put the trailing slash in order for it to work:

frihost.com/forums will not work, but frihost.com/forums/ will. Try it.
desertwind
What sort of issue is this?

Is there a work around?

If this is indeed an apache issue cant something be done to rectify it using .htaccess.. I've seen htaccess used for a lot of these url rewrite procedures.. Why cant it be done here?
Blaster
yea i get the exact same problem. another weird thing i found is if you go to www.frih.net:2393 it leads to a post Razz
pashmina
I have encountered this error many many time.
i usually type frihost.com/forums
and encounter this problem. They should be a way to remove this. I think a redirect has been added, which is causing this trouble,

Is this a joke? Because it doesn't work.
And I have encountered this issue many times, it bugs me but it really doesn't matter Rolling Eyes
Arseniy
Yes, I've got similar problem too sometimes. And it's boring.
coreymanshack
call me lazy, but i'd rather not HAVE to type the last slash Razz, i mean cmon, can't we atleast do an apache rewrite here?

Thats weird it used to work... Well it used to work because i accidently typed in www.frih.net:2082 to get to the controle panel because that is what it is for cpanel and i'm used to cpanel. Then i found that it did with like all :2341 stuff like that.

I don't know if something can or cannot be done about this.
This issue has been brought up in the past, and Bondings was and is aware of this. If he hasn't done something about it yet, it's because of one of the following 2 reasons:
1. there's something else which needs coding first
2. nothing can be done about it.

mabye we need to sticky this or something where it isn't done again in the future, as far as i'm concerned this topic can be closed as my suggestion has been addressed.

Or you just go in cpanel then to redirects type in /forums redirect to http://www.frihost.com/forums/ then its done. Its not a rocket science here.
coreymanshack
bump for close or sticky.

Bumping is bad karma Wink

Anyway, why doesn't Bondings make a forums.frihost.com, forums.frih.net, f.frihost.com and f.frih.net so that they all redirect to http://www.frihost.com/forums/? I think it'd be a good idea, make life easier and stop people complaining Smile

... and it can't take too long to do, either!
reddishblue
It's true, always notice forum karma, or an enraged moderator will bite you and give you rabies. Shocked

Furthermore, I don't think Hogwarts' idea goes too far enough (dial 555-555 to comment on my engrish), we should also have all the domains point to all the the relevent pages, not just the forum ones, but the FAQ, TOS, Directory and Account.

Why? I'm a perfectionist, and it should only take about half an hour for all the pages to go to the relevent...pages.

With much...me

Mod's inadverdently degrade me daily. I'm used to it. But anyway, what you guys just said really wasn't even on the topic.

If people can go to http://forums.frihost.com, wouldn't that be a fix? People won't have to go to http://frihost.com/forums

That also sure would be nice, I think the mods and anyone that has something to do with the way frihost operates have pretty much shunned this topic anyway.

Aha wait. I just found out they fixed it. Try going there and it auto adds the slash to the end. I knew it wouldn't take that much effort and they finnaly did it. Amazing they actually listened.

EDIT: Ooops, I typed www.frihost.com/forums instead of frihost.com/forums so it's not fixed Very Happy

Worked for me just then Razz
