I have been using menuet OS since around 3 years ago. Its very nifty. It has a GUI, and other apps. very fast too!
From the Site
MenuetOS is an Operating System in development for the PC written entirely in 32/64 bit assembly language, and released under the License. It supports 32/64 bit x86 assembly programming for smaller, faster and less resource hungry applications.
Menuet has no roots within UNIX or the POSIX standards, nor is it based on any particular operating system. The design goal has been to remove the extra layers between different parts of an OS, which normally complicate programming and create bugs.
Menuet's application structure is not specifically reserved for asm programming since the header can be produced with practically any other language. However, the overall application programming design is intended for easy 32/64 bit asm programming. Menuet's responsive GUI is easy to handle with assembly language.
By the way here is the link http://www.menuetos.net/
It sure looks and sounds nice, but is it usable? Can it do things like networking, mounting NTFS hard disks and support USB?
Is MenuetOS good for other applications then Quake and Doom?

The shareware versions with files pak0.pak and doom1.wad |
You spelled it wrong, heh. I'm going to check it out later, if I can install it on a thumb drive.
Edit: Doesn't look that great in my opinion.

Seems interesting and much more advanced than a student project would be. However, pretty difficult to increase its user base, as it is more of a show piece value rather than of any possibility of serious usage.. But credit must be given to the developers for their efforts! Kudos to them
really nice os and great features . must have been really hard work .
The one thing is that , they have really done a great job, porting those games to that os .

Yes, I've try this when it in a very beta os. But it seems to be just a OS for joy but not for end-user. But, I like it.
It's probably the lightest modern OS for microcomputers in the world but I doubt it's the lightest in the world. That title is held be CP/M - I haven't found an OS lighter than its first incarnation that was written in 100% PL/M code and fitted into 2 modules.
its alright. needs a bit of work, definitely needs to be mountable (it might be now but wasnt when i tried it a while ago)
