free program similar to Folder Lock

i liked folder lock except for the fact that it's not free. i don't want to pay $30 for it. Are there any programs similar to folderlock that are free?

if you don't know, folder lock is used to password protect a folder or files. when you enter the password, the folder becomes visible.

I never really liked those programs that only deny access to certain folders, they are not secure at all in that they only protect folders on the computer that they are running on (if you normally have access to folders over a network you can get at them even if folder lock is protecting them on another computer.)
I much prefrer encryption software such as TrueCrypt that don't try to intervene when you try to access to a folder, but encrypt a virtual drive it in an securely illegible file (amongst other uses.)
