stutter

joholland84
Hi everyone

My little 1998 Renault Clio is suddenly having difficulties starting and occassionally stuttering whilst driving. Any ideas? It's hardly been touched with only 26k and is well looked after. Before it's suggested, yes there is petrol in it! hehe. What could it be, spark plugs???

Also has anyone heard anything from Renault about a free car bonnet opening check?

Thanks

Jo

If a company needs to be running checks on weather or not the bonnets on their cars open, they obviously have some serious problems.

I would definitely have the spark plugs checked; also the spark plug wires, and the distributor cap (what the spark plug wires plug into at the other end).
The plugs and distributor can be checked visually, while a mechanic with special equipment is probably required to check the wires.

Other things would be good to check as well: Fuel system (Tank, pump, lines, injection, et cetera), Transmission (a slipping transmission might cause it, is it an automatic or standard?), also check the oil and coolant levels, check (where you park the car) for oil and coolant leaks.

It would be good to have a more accurate description of 'stuttering', which would allow for a more accurate diagnosis.

Anyone who owns a Clio might be interested in this:
