Is it possible to detec resolution with javascript ? if yes, how.
and how to then redirect visitors to the appropriate page ?

Make sure to add something like
<noscript>
<a href="800.php">800x600</a>
<a href="1024.php">1024x764</a>
</noscript>
to serve up a choice for users that don't have javascript.
