Opening files in a seperate windows in OpenSuse

I want that whenever i click on files such as text, and pix, they should open in their respective viewers in a new window like it does in WINDOWS. I found the option for Open Folders in a New Window, but couldn't find the same for Files... pls help

Hope you got what i mtrying to say!! I m using OpenSuse 10.2, KDE

Well, Konqueror in KDE can open lots of files, and it will if it gets a chance to. Right click the file and I'm sure there will be an option of "open with" and you can probably also make that the default app for a file type.

You could aswell try Gnome, it comes with SuSE too.

actually this is the correct solution, got it from suseforums
KDE control center, KDE components, file associations. filename pattern = txt, expand text, click on plain, make sure your desired viewer is on the top of the list, click on the embedding tab, select 'show file in seperate viewer'.

reboot the pc for changes to take effect!!
