How to prevent hotlinking an image and stealing bandwidth ?

FunDa
I'm not sure it's called hotlinking and I'm not sure if this is the correct section for this, but here goes ...

Sometimes if u try to place an image from one domain into another, a different image comes telling that hotlinking that image and stealing their bandwidth is forbidden.

For example if u place a tag like this
<IMG src="http://www.example.com/image.gif">
on a website www.example2.com
that image does not come but works properly in example.com

Does anyone know how to do that on your website ?
I assume that it is using php or something ...

Does anyone know ?

To save time you should have googled it. It is done by using .htaccess file. Google for prevent hotlinking and u will find a lot of tutorials teaching how to do that. Good luck.
