Buy a Pc or console ?

theem
As title says,
would you buy a PC or buy a console?

I would buy a PC, i can still play games, and with even better graphics in my opinion, besides that I can make projects, browse the net, etc.. etc.. The PC is my choice I think it's the best tool one can have... Cool

I bought a new 360 recently i now have 2. Then it broke toke it back got a new one half price at a diffrent store and got 20 block buster tokens 1 off! yay go me!

I would go for a PC. Consoles to me are just too expensive. For the same price of a console you could probably get a PC, maybe just with lower specs. To me consoles have very limited options compared to a PC.

I'd get a console - for $400 you could get a 360 that could play a large variety of retail games, and games from its Live Arcade. Buy a $400 computer - I'd expect you to be looking in the bargain-bin for 5-year old games to play with its specs.

Just matters what you need and how much money you have to spend.

Given the two options, I'd go with a PC. Because they CAN do things OTHER than play games, ya know.

1000$ PC against 300$ console is a hard question. PC can be used for many things, console only for playing and maybe watching movies too. But I prefer console. New consoles have good abilities for multiplayer gaming, because they can access internet too. So you don't have to find irl-friends anymore if you want to play multiplayer games. Most of the games made for consoles are better than PC-games too. And they work. That's the most important part. Console games always work, but PC games just keep getting errors or slow down at some point for some unknown reason or have problems with patches and else.

Maybe the best choise is to get 300$ console and 300$ PC for internet, writing and such things.

So can games consoles, if you know what you're doing Wink
My Xbox is pretty much not used for games anymore, I just have XBMC on it and stream videos from my computers.

Also, get a console, since they're specifically made for games, and you know the game you buy will work, without needing more powerful graphics or more memory.

Also, which do you prefer? Hunched up on a chair, staring at a monitor, or relaxing in your sofa playing on a large TV?

Now your just turning bias...
Anyway if I could go back in time I would have bought a new computer instead of my Xbox (not 360) I was using a greyish one that was about five years old, although thats mainly because I could not afford to buy games, until I discovered second-hand and EB sales, now that I have my laptop I feel no need for a new computer or a games machine, ciao, I'm going to go play some Halo Wink
Vedder6
i would rather have a new PC.
theres so much more to do on a PC then a console. And PC games (depending on what ones) wont cost you $49.99+.

Plus its more fun to mod a PC Smile

I would rather have a PC. I can always play games on it and without I wouldn't be able to browse the internet on my Wii.

Ridiculous! There's a large price difference involved. Why, that's like asking whether one would buy a moped or a space ship!

The price difference isnt that big. In my area an XBox 360 is over $500 before taxes. For $800 I can get a new pc with an Intel dual core cpu and 2G dual channel ram.

There is no contest here. PC is way better. The games are usually better, you can upgrade your pc, games can be modded and patched on the pc, I can use my pc for a LOT more stuff than an xbox, I dont have to buy some stupid subscription to play online (unless I was addicted to WoW or something like that). The list goes on and on, in fact I can't think of one single reason to buy an Xbox over a PC. Someone mentioned relaxing on their couch..I can do that with my wireless KBD and game controller.

I believe that is to buy the PC better, not important, that consoles are cheaper but the prices of computers are now so low, that we can cheap buy the good computer. The price is one of arguments, but also this, that the PC is more functional. Can not communicate with friends through the console, and the PC allows us to this. He depends still to what us equipment necessary is but the PC is more universal.

I would buy a PC, or rather build one. Half the fun of getting a computer is building it, and you just don't get that with consoles. Also, console games cost way too much.

A PC is better for some things. Mostly free multiplayer (as opposed to xbox live or something), and it's upgradeable/multipurpose. But consoles can be more fun for playing with friends in real life (which is always more fun).

Well considering that a real Console will cost at least $600 to $700 to get up and running, You could get a much better Computer than just a $300 Dell. I put my Conroe Core 2 Duo Gaming rig together for lest than that, and with my Creative SB X-Fi w/ remote and my 7900 GT it works as a full Media Center too. I'm fully able to decode DVDs at freakin high speed, which the Consoles can not at all. I wonder how can you consider a console a media center without being able to put media on it???!!! Plus they ship with a 60 GB hard drive, which can only hold your games, mean while I have 1.3 Tbs of space with tons of DVDs ripped (all legaly as to not wear out the DVD from over use), TV Shows and Tunes. Consoles have no mouse and keyboard a therefore suck at Internet browsing, you might as well browse the web on your cell phone.

I also got a ton of Family pictures to play around with, and Picasa makes that a snap. Then I got Photoshop, Word, Execl, and all that to actually be some what productive with my system.

As far as game play, 'Mommy wow, I can play a FPS WITHOUT AUTOAIM!' Dudes, mouse is the only way to play most games, FPS, RPG, RTS, and for flying I have a full joystick, not thunmb size.

All the Playstation has is the Nvida 7800 for video or some such, which I match with my 7900GT, and I can and will soon get a GeForce 8 which console won't see for at least 5 years, Direct X 10 is just beautiful!

So I will admit I spent more than $700 on my system, but a lot like my Hard drives and PSU I transfered from my last system. And my system is a little (in truth a lot better) than the average computer, so it cost a bit more. But I'm a Lanner, who needs a sweet rig with tons of HD space, and all powerful hardware. Well, you can play your Mario; And I will play Company of Heroes and BattleField. (Just say No to WOW at Lans!)

Game on my fuzzy friends, and remember "Friends don't let friends buy Consoles!"

A PC of course. With a PC you can play recent games and you don't need to buy an new one every 4 years. You can just upgrade it for a few dollars and it will still play the newest games. A console is nice, but a PC is better.

Don't pretend it's impossible to hook a PC up to a TV... With most modern TVs it's easy, even.
Macko112
In terms of price, it would seem a console system would be best (considering you don't buy every ridiculously priced game you play). However, I prefer mouse/keyboard to joystick/buttons. Especially when playing FPS; aiming with a mouse seems so much more... 'natural' than with a joystick. With MMORPGs, you have many more buttons to bind plus thousands of more people to play with.

Go for consoles as there are future proof.. I meant that now Directx 10 compliant games are coming which you wont be able to play in present GPUs..So in order to play at full performace COnsole is the wya to go

here is how it goes

wants to play intense games on intense consoles (such as xbox360) if you don't have big screen HDTV (or HD projector) then get back to your PC if you actually have a nice HDTV then dude get a console it's a lot of fun to play that way

To entertain your friends well Wii is awesome especially if you have projector or big giant TV is also cool Smile

I'm a PC gamer and always will be I love playing intense games right infront of PC screen for hours but I can't ignore how much fun to share your console with friends & guests!

Heh, a linux using pc gamer Razz

But seriously, I kid. Do you use cedega, wine or Crossover?
waxxsavea
i would go with a pc anyday reason being your not limited to buying games you can download many free games from websites, browse, and nearly every year theres a new graphic update. with consoles you need to buy a whole new $1000 machine when better graphics are made but with a pc you only need buy a new graphics card costing you about $200-$500\

I use super lite hacked version of Windows to play my games to avoid headaches Razz so don't use any emulator but I used to mess with wine 6 yrs ago and was able to run many softwares such as Macromedia Fireworks Smile

but when I PC game there is barely anything running! I can't remember the exact process but I think I managed down to 15 process! right now I'm very busy with school so I haven't been gaming for a while Sad
