This actually leads to a strange way of looking at this. Will the next generation of video be brought down to the commercialization of pornography?
I'm gonna have to say yes, based purely on business reasons, not based on any likes or dislikes for porn.
If you think about it, I'm guessing that porn dvds are released at a quicker rate than regular movies. There's no theatrical debut and a lot less marketing goes into a pron dvd than any other movie. The turn around time between pron movies is probably relatively short. Based solely on that I'd say there's a good chance that it could happen.
Quite frankly, I don't understand why these companies cannot agree on a standard. A standard is just that: universally adopted (not some) and needs to be open (not held by one corporate monopoly). USB afasik is the only computer standard in wide use - though even that is not entirely accurate due to certain companies adjusting the software in such a way that USB storage devices are not identified as a "mass storage device".
We saw it a couple years ago with DVD+R vs DVD-R. The outcome? Burners and players that could read and write both formats.
I believe it was Panasonic (and others to follow) announced a combination hd-dvd and blue-ray hybrid player. Many people argue about which format is better, yet I think its more a matter of opinion than concrete fact.
The porn industry isn't going decide this "war" partially because it will dissipate, and partially because pirates are not going to obey the DRM-infested formats; as has gone on, it will be ripped and made available on the 'net and that's all there really is to it.
theyre gonna need some very very good looking gurls for that, i remember reading an article where they siad the technological advancements with video quality is too good for the porn industry. only because the stars have wrinkly skin or too much unwanted hair, which can no longer be hiddin
If you think about it BD-Ray discs are just spacious it doesn't mean the quality of the data on the disc will be of higher quality, as with HD-DVD the quality will be significantly higher than usual of course the imperfections of the porn stars will be alot easier to notice.
As usual you there was not an answer which I could tick which summed up my opinions. The answer:
That just seems like a gross oversimplification, of course not
consists of two parts. I agree with the first part, that it is a gross oversimplification, but I will admit that it will play a part.
Porn is actually a huge deciding factor on the HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray war. The porn industry if you believe or not is a billion dollar industry. If you think back to the days of BetaMax and VHS, this is somewhat of a similar case. The BetaMax was far superior to the VHS however the creator of the BetaMax would not allow porn to be produced on the BetaMax while the VHS could.
Now, I'm not saying that the deciding factor will be by the porn industry, but it will be a HUGE factor of which technology will become the champ.
Which ever is the cheapest way to store all of my Sora Aoi clips.
