I need to access ssh via an http proxy. We use an automatic proxy configuration url (pac file) for browsers. Any idea how to use it for ssh?
SSH via HTTP Proxy
I suppose you don't have a root access to the server with ssh.
If yes, just follow the first google link

Well I cant at least help you if we do not know how you plan to access the proxy. You did state that you/they use a proxy URL for browsers so i am just going to assume that you need to access this proxy with a browser. Now I use IE and Firefox
For SSH I do belive URL start with HTTPS://URL_HERE
For Firefox Version 2.0.0.3
Tools > Options Advanced
Then under the Connections Tab click SETTINGS
you will see at the bottom it says
" Automatic Proxy Configuration URL " now just pop in the link and it should works!
FOR IE ( Internet Explorer Version 7.0.5730.11)
Tools > Internet Options >
Connections >
****Click on LAN Settings
check the "Use Automatic Configuration Script"
type in the URL and you good to go
If you a XP user
Start > Control Panel
- If you are in category view then
Click on " Network and Internet Connections"
Internet Options
Connections >
