I'm new to the upload facility here. I've uploaded files to the DirectAdmin control panel, but when I try to view the site on-line (as opposed to via the control panel) I'm asked to log in using my username/password.
Obvioulsy I don't want all the viewers to have to do this....have I uploaded to the wrong area, or missed something in settings?

Any help greatly appreciated.

well for one your sending everyone to your control panel...[A Big NO - NO]
make sure you have an

public_html/

index.html
index.php
index.htm

you need to send them some where other then your control panel.
Right now there going to get your custom error messages.

Invest in a good FTP and HTML editor. That is cuteftp/html to settle all your ftp/html editing and uploading

Your address to send vistors to is [NOTHING MORE THEN]

If it helps, the url is http://www.wellerchap.frih.net:2222/CMD_FILE_MANAGER/wakefieldscooters/index.htm
Any help greatly appreciated.

As rheanna has pointed out, you are using the control panel address of your site - this is why users are not able to visit.

When you upload any file that you want to appear on your webspace, it must be inside the public_html directory. Anything inside this folder is then available from your site address. For example, if you have uploaded a file to public_html/wakefieldscooters/file.ext, this will be available to site visitors at http://www.wellerchap.frih.net/wakefieldscooters/file.ext

You must upload files to the public_html directory - if you don't, the files will not be available to visitors of your site.
