I see all this stuff about google adsense, but no one's really mentioned Amazon.. is that because it's not a very good advertiser? Or, is it just less used? Also, can I use it in conjection with adsense?

They only pay 4 percent. It will take a very long time until you reach the minimum payout. If you sell expensive things then it will pay off.

So far i haven't made any payments from amazon, while adsense send my payment every month.
It's not easy to make money from affiliate since you have to make a sale to get commission, while on adsense you only need clicks.
On affiliate game, you need targetted visitors who are interested on the product you are promoting. If your visitors are not targetted then it's very difficult to convert those visitors to be a buying visitor.
On adsense you still can "trick" them with a good blended ads placement and format since every click will give you commission, no matter they buy something or not.
