Hi,
Im interested in refreshing pre calculus and having a overview of statistics and probability. I think it would suit me.... Is there any online tutorial book or website where i can easily browse through these topics ???

Hi
Do you know the site http://www.math.com/? I don't know which level you want to learn and what background on basics do you have.
I wish you a great success in math. Have fun.

This is a nice math site: http://www.cut-the-knot.org/
A lot of examples (applets and stuff) to go with the theory and a lot of topics. It isn't going to learn you something new if you are a maths buff, the 'difficulty' of the topics range from beginner to intermediate.

For example: the classic probability problem about the chance of two people sharing the same birthday: http://www.cut-the-knot.org/do_you_know/coincidence.shtml

It isn't going to teach you rocketscience, but it is a nice starter.

Check this video out on how to solve math problems very fast ;o)

American physicist Richard Feynman

Quote:
An American physicist Richard Feynman developed this technique to graphically solve quantum field theory equations (actually to get approximations) that could not be solved otherwise. He got Nobel Price in physics for those "Feynman's diagrams

I would just brush up on log and exponential operations via google search. you will be using a lot of that in precalc

Maths is so hard! I just spent over 4 hours yesterday studying it!

But seriously, I'd say that if you want to learn maths you need to give yourself a lot of time for studying! Wink

I think you will like this site:
http://mathworld.wolfram.com/
It offers most of the famous theoris and equations. I think you should save it in your favorite folder. When you need to refer to some theories or equations, just try to search in that website.

mathworld.wolfram.com is for someone that already know what to look for. anandr86 : I think you seriously should consider to buy a clculus book, turn off your computer for a while, and take a bunch of sheets and a pencil. I hope you enjoy it, calculus is beautiful, is a tool that make your intellect stronger. Bye.

http://mathworld.wolfram.com/ has a lot of theory and whenever I tried to find some explanations I just got even more confused. There are some websites which content is easier to understand and there are examples to practice… For example, www.sosmath.com.

Online? I think the most effective method of learning math is understanding the concept and apply them to any usable application and most of the times they require us to write..not type..haha..I know there are also lots of usable calculation software out there such as MatLab..maybe I get used to the traditional ways which I find more effective

hi,,,

The best way to be good at maths is practice. At the same time its good to have a good reference book with you. I don't think there are any useful math sites that i've known, but i would recommend that you consult your library for the best relevant ones. They'd help the most. Don't get hooked on softwares that do all the calculations for you. Hope this helps. have fun mathie!!
