How to Transfer Hosting Account..

k_s_baskar
Hi all,

I am having hosting accounts with various service providers and they gave different Control panels to handle the hosing A/cs. such as Cpanel, Direct Admin etc.,

Now I bought 2GB space from a good service provider with Direct Admin control panel. Now i want Transfer all my domains, sqls and pop3 accounts to the New hosting A/c. Is there is any easy way to transfer all my domains from cpanel to direct Admin?

If so please post here. i will be very thankful .

Thanks again in advance.

Smile

better still make tarballs of your files (you can extract that way quickly on the new host). do a server to server transfer of the file (its quicker). then copy the DA settings into the cP.
I can do it for you for some frih$, anyway you are leaving frihost, so you wont use the frih$

Server to server transfer is called FXP or file exchange protocol.
You can use a client that supports FXP to transfer files between 2 servers.

Quote:
FXP stands for File eXchange Protocol and it lets you copy files from one FTP-server to another using a FXP-client. Normally you transfer files using the FTP protocol between your machine and a FTP-server, and the maximum transfer speed depends on the speed of your Internet connection (e.g. 56k, cable or T1). When transferring files between two remote hosts using a FXP client, the maximum transfer speed does not depend on your connection but only on the connection between the two host, which is usually much faster than your own connection. Because it is a direct connection you will not be able to see the progress or the transfer speed of the files.

better still install rapidkill (DO NOT USE IT TO LEECH STUFF AND STORE IT ON FRIHOST SERVERS). and request for the tarballs from rapidkill. it will directly download from the host (here frihost) to your new host. it is very very fast

BUT BEFORE THAT CONFIRM WITH BONDINGS WHETHER THIS IS ALLOWED
dac_nip
yup, I would like to ask permission from BONDINGS if this kind of procedure is allowed (using FXP). I'll try to read from FXP (file exchange protocol) on things that need to be learn. My space in frihost is rapidly diminishing, I need another space..?
tidruG
I don't know about FXP. You'll have to wait till Bondings replies in here for his assent to that.

However, as far as your Frihost space getting diminished, and you needing more... well, there isn't much we can do about this, sorry... we only allow one website per user, and it's 250MB per user only.
Bockman
don't really know IF we have FXP enabled on Frihost, but my guess is it's not available.

more on FXP here:

Be Well Cool

yeah. Actually I tried doing it yesterday. I was kind of disappointed because the speed is so slow and there are lot of timeouts per file transfer. I assumed it would be a lot more faster than client-server FTP but that is not the case. I thought it was the problem of my other server not frihost. But then, the possibility that it was not available on frihost is also highly probable. Anyway, I just resorted to other means of doing it. Im thinking of using tarballs to backup the data and then transfer it to other servers.. that would also be possible but it would be a waste of time compared to FXP. hayy, frihost is the best in terms of services of the hosting out there..but i just need more space!
swizzy
I am telling you again.... FXP is a diffnt protocol application. Rapidkill is not. its just a php file retriever. just ask bondings to use the app
