I would love to learn javascript and php, but even the thought of it terrifies me. I've managed to learn a lot of html and css, although I do sometimes use topstyle lite to help me with css. The important thing is I can normally spot mistakes I've made.
If you're dyslexic and have managed to learn either of these scripts, how did you manage to make sense of it? Do you have any tips you can pass on?
haha...not easily...I guess just read the scripts over and over until you get it...i know PHP, and believe me, the really hard stuff if NOT easy...it's amazing how the mind can grasp things after a while though

I know what you mean about reading and reading until you understand it. It took me about 2 years to grasp html. I tried to learn javascript, but gave up in the end.
Which do you find easier to grasp, javascript or php? I have a huge problem with numbers and symbols.

I don't know any javascript...only PHP, I've been wanting to check into javascript soon though. All I can really say is to just read the scripts over and over until you understand it. That's what I did with PHP...

I'm impressed. I've been knocking myself out by trying to use a tiny bit of php with my menu bar AND I've been led step-by-step through it. I've now reached the point where I'm going to have to find an alternative way of doing my links

Right now it feels as though it's never going to be finished. I'm still trying to get the links to work. It's one step forward and two steps back Links are easy:

That's what I've got, but it's not working for some reason. Even my email link isn't working. I'm wondering if it's because I was advised to have my links page as an .inc file instead of php.
I was originally going to have my links in a horizontal menubar, inserted as an iframe, but this didn't work as I had sub-menus and they dropped down lower than the bottom of the iframe.
A friend of mine is sure he did something like that for a client a couple of years ago, using html, and had found a way round the problem. He's looking forward to working on this tomorrow. He said it's just what he needs to motivate him. He'll let me know on Monday if he sorted managed to do it.
Meanwhile, I've bought PHP 5 in the In Easy Steps series, so no matter what happens, I'm going to have a go at learning PHP.

I'll think about AIM or MSN. I managed to get Apache and PHP5 downloaded and configured. It took me all weekend, but I got there in the end. I've been neglecting other things, like checking my emails while I was doing that, and working on my nav bar, so I think I'd better have a short break and catch up with everything else.
