Yes, you can use the mail() function. Just make sure that you don't let your visitors use the feature as a general email program - this can lead to abuse by spammers.

Because I'm still waiting for my account to be handled.
Just because you don't have an account yet doesn't mean you can't Search. Nor does it stop you from looking at this: www.frih.net/phpinfo.php
