.US domain problems

I am interested in registering a .us domain.

I am aware that private registration cannot be done with .us domains[atleast at namecheap].
What I want to know is that, if there are any other hassles or troubles one may face if I have such a .us domain,

Are there any other legal problems I may face in the future. By problems I mean, can the US govt suddenly take control of my site or something like that in case of emergencies etc.[just an example]

Note:

I am not american or canadian. Also my site will be hosting legal content and nothing against the USA.

.US domains are overseen by ICANN (an American overseeing body) - the same as .com/.net/.org etc etc etc. You face no different potential problems owning any domain name overseen by ICANN. Technically, the USA controls the internet in its entirety, so there's really nothing to worry about as far as I'm aware.

If you are not a US resident or you have legal business there you might loose your domain .us you buy.

Best way is if you have a good buddy in USA [ resident ] use this contact info for the whois .
