HOBART, Ind. - Kevin Russell found out it's not easy trying to cash a check from God. The 21-year-old man was arrested Monday after he tried to cash a check for $50,000 at the Chase Bank in Hobart that was signed "King Savior, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Servant," Hobart police Detective Jeff White said.

Russell was charged with one count attempted check fraud and one count intimidation, both felonies, and one count resisting law enforcement, a misdemeanor. He could face prison time.

Police were called to the bank after Russell tried to cash the check, which was written on an invalid Bank One check with no imprint, White said. Russell had several other checks with him that were signed the same way but made out in different dollar amounts, including one for $100,000.

Russell struggled with police as they tried to detain him, White said, and then threatened police as they transported him to the Hobart Police Department.

"I've heard about God giving out eternal life, but this is the first time I've heard of him giving out cash," White said.

No court date has been set for Russell. He was being held Wednesday at the Lake County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

I find that hilarious haha

That is very strange. The police should give something at least for his creativeness.
jay84h
Creativeness? LOL, now that's wicked haha. Who in they're right mind would ever think of doing that?

"Which was written on an invalid Bank One check with no imprint"

sorry, but like that’s the reason to not cash a God cheq, if it was a legitimate one would it make ANY difference?
xorcist
Wow I could not help to laugh when I saw the title. I mean come on did he really think he was going to get away with that. Especially with a check with no bank imprint on it.
Zampano
Preposterous; at these times one must wonder whether he truly believes that God gave him the check.

Out of curiousity, did he get sent to jail or to a psychiatric ward? Laughing

Now I've seen everything. What is God's account number?

Laughing Hey, Gawd please send me a check in the mail as well so I can make a deposit. LMAO! Gawd was very generous 50K. Twisted Evil

Checks have account numbers on them. My question is... what is God's account number? Which bank does he use? Does he have his own? If so, what's it's ABA routing number?

Donating to god is more efficient than donating to the church.

I think that rather than people donating to the church, god should donate directly to the people and leave out the church as middleman... The overheads would be lower hahaha Laughing

Although.... what would the priests do? Start childcare centres? *shudder*

*** I just tried to edit my post, hopefully i haven't posted it twice.

I was actually wondering that myself. I have heard of people doing dumber things, but when they actually believe it, who should tell them that they are wrong? People have been aquitted for what they believe (propelling them to commit the act). They shouldn't give him the money (as I'm sure everyone else is thinking), but I still wonder if he actually thought that it was a cheque from God. I doubt it. Probably some university student who was struggling to make ends meet.

Haha, I read about that guy online...weiiiirdo. You'd think that he'd sort of have to believe it if he had the guts to actually go and try and cash that check, eh? At the very least he'd have to at least be a little off his rocker to go through with it...haha.

... We have a bit of a joke going on in Sydney that Tasmanians are a bit backward-- come to think of it, so are New Zealanders and Melbournians... tehe nothing wrong with a bit of regional rivalry Laughing They are all equally annoying! (Apart from the NZ'ers- the south island is awesome & so many lovely ppl AND great skiing). Melbourne is the most boring place on earth, and Tassie is not much better, unless you enjoy hiking in extreme conditions...

On a different note- I love that tag, my mum used to say that all the time... You're not a fan of Salvadore Dali's works, are you? haha

roflmao....did he think he would actually pull that one off?? but cash would have been easier Wink

Ok, to cash a cheque, it needs to come from a bank account first! Anyone could write up a cheque and sign it but it needs to have an account... where else is the money supposed to come from? What an idiot.. .couldn't have thought of that now could he?

I hope he gets sent to a mental hospital.. or to a religious school..

Though if they had some form of religious respect, they would have not charged him, because for all they know -- it could have actually, honestly been his religious belief and they should've respected that. The most I would've done is told him that they did not honor that at the bank in question and asked him to leave.

I gues it is not really the kind of thing for a god to do something like this. I mean the man is/was in Jail!
probably some sick joke by lucifer...
bluedragon
Sure it's just like God! God created Lucifer! Lucifer is here to teach us a lesson!

The lesson this man should have learned is that God does not deal in materialism, especially materialism in His name.

In fact, it's a lesson we all must learn.

what a nutcase. Funny though Laughing

Very funny. Who could have imagined that!!! If this really happened, then this man must be a big fool.
Sphaerenkern
Haha, funny. Just a matter of time until someone wants to do that action with the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
dkelite
Weired´, i cant see how he even could think, that god gives people checks.

But if that really happends, then i think od should change his signature,

That guy is surely a nut case. At least he was not aggressive. Send him to the lunatic bin, anyway!

I'm not sure about the not aggressive part, I mean, he did threaten the police. That's just another sign that he's not all there. Who in their right mind would try to cash a cheque like that, and then threaten the police who arrest you.

Regardless of his circumstances and whether it was his belief or a practical joke, you'd really have to be insane to try something like this.

lol beautiful that just made me lol , and btw, very nice name Tiger Very Happy
