Moving content from server to server

TheGeek
I used to have my site hosted on a friends dedicated server, but now that I have this server I see no reason to keep it there and continue leeching his bandwidth. Is there an easy way other than to just copying it all to my computer and re-uploading it to transfer my site from one server to another?

Yes, you can easily do that without downloading or uploading anything. You can easily transfer your files from one server to another if you have SSH access.
TheGeek
...yea thats the catch I don't have ssh access...but nevermind I got a new domain name (stumbled across one that seems pretty good and has potential) and I am going to just re design the site on the new server from the ground up and get a fresh start. Thanks for the advice though.

flashFXP support ftp server to server

you can also try google ftp + "server to server" for other ftp client that support server to server.
TheGeek
thanks, I use flashfxp and had no idea it was able to do that...cool.

there must be a backup facility in your current server
so all files will be zipped or tar zipped so you can upload the tar zip file into a new server and extract there. Smile
