PHP count current users

I am wondering if anyone knows of a script that can do the following....

I want to be able to count how many people are looking at my website at one time. Keep in mind that these people are not logged in to anything. Just people viewing the website. Also I don't have a mysql database hooked up to this so that isn't an option. possibly something using xml.

I have tried that script before and it doesn't work properly. For some reason it says at 1.

Yeah well, I tested it with multiple people at the same time. So maybe there is a problem with my server.
