awhile back i saw a script posted here that allowed you to make a photo gallery. from what i remember, when the user clicks on a picture a popup window comes up on the same page and the background darkens.

can anyone help me find the script

I'm pretty sure you heard about lightbox. http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/ You've got two versions. The first is lighter then the second but the second looks a bit cooler and has the function of showing image sets.
