Configuring net in Suse & Ubuntu

How can i configure my net connection to work in Suse 10.2 and Ubuntu 6.10... i have a MTNL's Triband connection... its an ADSL connection... i m using D-Link 502T router and its connected to my PC through USB port... how to configure net now???

ok i have now connected my router through ethernet port... can anybdy suggest me anything??

You can use DHCP to let your router configure your computer's network settings like IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway. Or... You can manually configure the settings yourself.

In Ubuntu (or other Debian-based distros I think), you can manually edit /etc/network/interfaces. Or... You can use a GUI like the Network Settings (I think) in GNOME and the KDE Control Center in KDE.
