German letter

garionw
As I continue to build my website, I am interested in getting the domain gamed.net. This domain was already taken, but redirects me to gamed.de.

Is anyone interested in giving me a few pointers about the German language, what the simple terms mean and could help me convert an English letter to German?

German = language spoken in Germany

I'd advise you to just write your letter in english.... all those german gamers must be able to read some simple english, don't they? And if they insist that you write your letter in german, you can always send another letter ^^

Writing German isn´t the most difficult thing in the world. Chinese is worse Wink
But seriously, writing a German letter isn't very difficult if you only want to ask them for the domainname.
A few rules:
- use capitals for all nouns (so: use Capitals for all Nouns Wink )
- start your letter with "Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,"
- end it with "Mit freundlichen Grüssen"
- use google and look for 'Deutsche Briefe' (you will find some examples)
- never start your letter with "Ich", since that's considered impolite in almost every language.
- one last tip: it looks better if you write in simple German, with some minor mistakes then if you write in English, especially if you mention you're english (if you are) ("Mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr Gut weil ich Englisch bin."

Good luck!

Hi garionw,

being German I could help you translate some sentences if you should have problems. Just pm me in this case.

@ johanfh: please don't feel offended, but you made a little mistake in your laste sentence: "Mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr Gut weil ich Englisch bin."
It should be: "Mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr gut, weil ich Engländer bin."

Good luck!

Thanks for all of the support, but I've decided to go against the idea and purchase an other domain.

When I did a Google search, there were many results for Gamed, which probably not a good thing Razz

I guess this could be locked now, thanks for your help
