I think that the audience on this website has an average age of 23 as a guess.
I am more than double this number. What awaits you as you age through your 20's, 30's, 40's and gulp hit 50?
First
At 22 you feel that you are the exception the first person who is not going to get any older then
Second
At 26/28 you might find you suddenly take longer to recover from a run or even a trip up a wooden hill(stair case)
Third
At 32/34 suddenly those cool laugh lines are joined by a crease between your eyes/above the nose.
Fourth
Your sitting at the top of a bus and suddenly realise your the oldest on the top deck
Fifth
At 40th Birthday party. You realise you cannot consume as much alcohol as you used to and thats not the only thing you cannot enjoy as frequently as you used to.
Sixth
None of your clothes fit anymore and your nearest and dearest tells you to start wearing pyjamas because your "not 20 anymore"
Happy fiftieth birthday!!!
Whats your experience and or what are you going to do about getting older?
So you are older than 39??? This is cool because I thought I was the oldest person here on Frihost at 39.

Not even close! I top out OVER the 1/2 century mark.
Those items were bit funny, although I think I managed to avoid them pretty well. I actually am in better shape than in my 30s.
I would like to add a few of my own though.
At a certain age, you start feeling like a fool at concerts.
At a certain age, you reflect on the unfairness of having less hair on your head and more hair on your ears and nose.
At a certain age, you notice that the girls you are dating are the same age as your friends daughters.
At a certain age, you start complaining about all the young drivers!
At a certain age, you catch yourself saying things like "When I was your age....".
Yep, getting old. Time to step aside and watch the world go to hell instead of fighting to change it
While I can't "compete" with HoboPelican, I've found that I've become much more jaded each year. Childish goals have been replaced with realistic ones. Ocassionly I am looked to as if I have some kind of authority, of all people, me? And while it has not been all that long, it has been long enough to forget, and then rediscover the joy of "zero-gravity" (though not even close to a free fall...) on swing and jumping off. I've always been cautious, worse so in recent years, however, with some help I've started to loosen up and be a little reckless when appropriate. While there is nothing negative in aging, the gains in knowledge that take place during that ΔT can be unsettling.

You are now known as Old Man Pelican.
I've never understood why teenagers are always trying to act all grown up. Its nice to be treated not like a little kid, but I've always thought my youth was something I should cherish while I've got it and that I should always enjoy being young as much as I can. I've still got some time before I reach your guys' ages I guess, I'll be 17 in May
and dont forget more problematic recover from alcohol trips...
In the words of Baz Luhrmann, "Take care of your knees - you'll miss them when they're gone."
As you get older, you get smarter
as you get older you get smarter?
I know some people who are quite aged and they have certainly not gotten any of the smartness u mentioned.
As you get older, you lose three things.
The first one is memory.
And I can't remember the other two.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
As you grow older you (hopefully) grow in wisdom
I'm 38 and I find the best thing about growing older (to this point) is the far clearer picture I have of the world and how things work. There is a certain naivety that has (mostly) disappeared at this point.

You slowly start to rot and fade away when you hit 50... it hurts alot, dont ever get old.
Youth is so wated the the youth!
I'm so afraid of becoming old. I'm 19 now and I honestly want to run away to Tír na nÓg and hide there forever.
Even worse, though, is the knowledge that I am wasting my youth. I'm not physically active enough, I'm not comfortable enough in my own skin (despite the fact that I will be at my most attractive in the next ten years and it's likely to be all downhill from thereon!), I'm not making the most of my mental agility. Just... yeah. I wish I could bottle ten years of youth and use it when I'm 75 instead of now, ha.
i'm still 18. but this thought comes to my mind too while my older sister get stuck and kinda bored around her age. she only works and sumtimes go out with her friends. probably i would do the same, but i will do better. i will go having vacations around my country perhaps XD
What am going to do when I get older? I don't know maybe read poetry?
http://kate.athend.googlepages.com/fourseason's (ok either i have to learn out how to put in the ' or leave it out ... means this link doesn't work you have to copy and paste it if you want to see )
Seems to me for every action there is a reaction in nature and although I can't really do that much about father clock I can still mantain my youngness of heart, maybe cruise around in flying saucers or sometin.
Looking forward to new and exciting things when I really get old like walking on to a stage, (thinking of George Burns here) and declairing you don't have to worry about dieing after you get over 100 because few people die over a hundred.
As I got older I realised that the dreams I had when I was younger of having a nice life were all just a dream. I dreamt that after school I would get a job and earn a decent living and finally get to stop worrying and relax.
Instead after school I had to go to college. After graduation I have to go for Post-Graduation (I am a medical student). And after that I have to worry about patients, about utility bills, about my aging parents, about my own wife and family.
Life, as we get older, only becomes more complex and dreadful.
First
20's
You dream to build your own company...
You wanna go out with the beautiful guy/girl of the class/university
You play hockey
Second
30's
You work at a small company
you re more realistic and you wanna find your soulmate
Dont have time for sports
Third
40's
You build your company or you forget your dream
you loose your hair... and try to seduce the secretary
You play tennis
Fouth
50's
You play golf or you watch tv 7/7
flirting is a souvenir but by watching your family, u can see that your life was filled with love
This is disturbing.
At 18 you feel invincible. I'm 18. WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Nah the oppurtunities that arise when you turn 18 (legal age in aus) is amazing but I can only imagine what it's like when you have a career. ATM uni rocks though!
Hmm , when u get older ... you get more senile .. hahhaa ...

I caught myself saying that last week to my eleven year old cousin. I am eighteen and I felt old lol.
I don't think you have to worry dixy...your still young and beautiful
As I got older, I realized how important life is. How important the money is in order to survive. How important a love one is in order to move on when things get bored or lonely, I am always thinking of how to get the best life I could have in this temporary world. That's always been in my mind as time goes by.

Lol!
.. That's odd though. As max told, you're so young to think of that.
As of me I'm in my mid 20's now and still feel young by messing around too much on MMORPG's on the net.
Just want to play golf or sip a tea in a resto, watch basketball and visit friends on my 60's (just a thought of it makes me feel old.)
yea i dont think that much things happen as u get older. I mean ur still used to the same stuff as before and you are still going to love the stuff you loved before. Example is your parents or grandparents. Notice how your grandparents usualyl dont know how to use a computer? and would rather write stuff out by hand because they believe it's much better than a computer? that's what they have thought. they have known about writing stuff out by hand for a long time now and they want to continute that tradition. same with your parents. maybe some of you rparents dont like to use the latest technology, such as mp3 players. my parents would rather play from cassets becasue they believe it's better. so by the time you're older, new stuff would have came out, but you would have still loved the stuff you love now

Please refer to http://www.frihost.com/forums/vp-350112.html#350112...it may save some some headaches.
Birth - 3 years of age: Get a solid feel for simple physics and a good taste of what your five senses can offer. Try to establish stronger relationships by contorting your body and babbling some cry for a mutual understanding.
3 - 15: Develop strong characteristics that will last your lifetime. Begin to understand the relationships between yourself and other individuals within your immediate community. Develop strong habits. Question everything.
15 - 20: Do your best to survive puberty. Begin to understand the pretensions between yourself and other individuals within your immediate community. Decide whether you will carry the billboards of big corporations and become a product of commercialism or create your billboards of dignity, global awareness, longterm awareness, preservation of natural balance, community strength, anti-corruption, anti-racism, anti-greed, anti-image...
I'm only 19 so that's as far as I can guess but I can't wait to see what's possibly in store for decades to come.
what the hell, every period is a experience of life, let's just enjoy them,
| bartdou wrote: |

that is true
every age, every period in ones life comes with good and bad things.
that will always be like this. funny is one thing though, remember that beloved line: in my days things were better or kids behaved more and so on?
wel, i'm pretty certain that every generation said the same thing.
kids will be kids and older people will be old.
hehe
either way
wether you start regretting things that happend in the past or you are looking forward to the future. time will not go faster or slower because you want it too. nor can you skip any age. but if you are busy, having a great time, time will fly. but the most important thing is indeed to have fun.
lol I'm 19... none of them yet
Love it hehe
As I get older, I notice that life gets awfully complicated.
When I was a kid-kid (cause I'm still a kid at 20, hah) life was so very simple.
I'd ride my bike, talk to friends, go to school and all the other fun stuff.
The day was ours and we only really had to answer to our parents.
Now I have a job, deal with the bank, phone company, cable company, etc.
It just seems like there are so many things to deal with before I can actually enjoi myself.
I miss the times when it was as simple as asking my mom for money to get ice cream.
Now I help her out with money sometimes, how amusing.
Sure I'm not old, not at all.
But I see it as it only gets worse...
Buying a house, raising kids, saving for retirement...
No, dear seniors of FriHost, I'm not saying life is bad.
Just kids take for granted the things they're given.
Most do anyways.
Besides, I think I'll quite enjoi the day when I can amaze my kids, or even grandkids with stories from my youth.
It's the little things that count really.
I find I sleep less each night with each passing year, I just wake up now ( strangely 10 mins before any set alarm ) where before I had to be woken , usually by force
Getting older scares me! I'm only 20, but I feel like I'm already competing with like, 15-year-olds who look as old as I am, and who are much "desired" by guys my age. Ooooo, hate them! When I was 15 (the notorious "when I was your age" phrase) I was absolutely innocent and absolutely geeky. Nowaydays 15-year-olds all try to be older than they are... or has it always been that way? I don't know. Ah well
my friend and I talked about this before. She said that as we grow older, our lives become sadder. kinda true. but then as we our lives become sadder, it becomes happier too. hehe.
I'm just 19. I don't want to grow old.. but it will come anyway. Hope I'd enjoy~
"As we grow older our options diminish" - misquote from singer Peter Hammill, but I think it is very true. When you are young and just starting school anything is possible. By the time you leave school you have narrowed down your future a lot. By the time you get married your future is pretty much staked out, and by the time you are 50 your future is pretty much over (and you wonder what happened to all the things you intended to do when you were young).
At approximately which age does one start to appreciate their kinship with the soil? I suppose it would vary from person to person. Is it comforting at a certain point to know that a beautiful flower may find root in one's old flesh? Some people would find that extremely discomforting even after 140 years, I suppose. I guess my answer is: 22, to all of the above.
Well I'm 30 and it's interesting how things change but I really think life is about experience. Yes we go through aches and pains about getting old. When you turn 30 or older for that matter especially if you're a woman you love being asked for id. In fact I was asked for id in a beerstore about a month ago in Ontario and the poor guy that asked could not believe the reaction I was sooo happy and the people behind me were congratulating me . I remember when I was younger I hated being asked for ID.
I'm under 40 now.. but very close...
I don't want to look young than my real age.. I just want to live properly as my age
You get hairier!
Hmm, well for a start, I don't think the person inside me has changed since I first became really self aware of my thoughts and stuff.
You know the kind of things I mean, whatever made me laugh or sad when I was a kid are the same things now. Whatever I felt was right or wrong are pretty much the same as well.
Definitely the biggest difference from growing older is that I think a little more now, and don't **** things up as often as I used to - make enough mistakes and we do learn from them eventually!
I think the worst thing about getting old is that you realise you are never going to do all those things which you looked forward to doing when you were young. Another thing is looking back and discovering that you are nearer to death than to your school days.
As you get older? Well, I guess you get more confidence intelligence and more hair.
