chief illiniwek
anybody know who the chief illiniwek? It's sad that the University of illinois is retiring the chief. I don't like it one bit. They say that the chief is offensive and abusive but it only represents honor and pride. The people who are apposed to the chief aren't even indian so how can they represent that minority. The mejority of the people who know of the chief illiniwek repect and would never like the chief leave. It's the stupid left wingers that have to have everything there way. i hate it.
I agree. While I admit, people are entitled to be offended, I believe that people should take things less seriously.
The moniker "Fighting Illini" will probably be gone soon too.
They should change the mascot the the "Illinois Bunnies".
How can the NCAA selectively impose rules?
If they want to ban hostile mascots, apply it to all schools equally.
The Florida Seminoles riding a horse and brandishing a war lance should fall under the same rules.
