Litestep is the best shell replacement because it is free and fully customisable and has loads of themes. http://beyondconvention.net/ohussain/lsinstaller/ is a good place to start.

The only good ones I saw were the ones with <2 icons and the ones using shells.
Here's mine...I don't have any shells, just a tiny bar called custombar which takes the place of all my icons and so much more. SO much more.

I still use Windows (XP, as you can see), because the step to Linux for example, is just a bit to big. Most programs for school and work are Windows, and that's a pity I think.
