I have worked and traveled around in holland in the past and I thought I would share with you my favorite taste
I have to say it was the Orange Bud
Whats was yours?
Never spent a lot of time in Holland sadly. Can you explain more about Orange Bud. Is it an edible flower, a citrus flavoured beer or a strangely coloured friend?
Juts give a bit more information for those of us who have no idea what that is. Hopefully then anyone who relies to this thread will do the same so those of us with less knowledge of Holland has a chance to learn someting.
I'm from Holland, so everything they sell here is not special to me, since I see it every day!
I'm from Holland, but I have no idea what a orange bud is
--EDIT--
looked it up. It's wiet as we call it (wiet=grass, as in softdrugs).

The best thing about Holland is "Knowken in de koken"

Yet again something I don't know
Do you mean "neuken in de keuken" (****** in the kitchen)?

That would be correct good sir. Every Dutch teenager I have met has thought me that!
I've only been in the Netherlands once for 6 hours waiting for a flight. All I remember is that everything was seemingly expensive, and there were smoking sections in the middle of the airport.
Lol, drugs and Holland the two will just never spilt. Funny how my mum is from the Netherlands. I live Australia and I've been there like twice or maybe three times.

Same. But it's interesting how people in other countries think about Holland
And how people in the US buy "Orange Bud" for a way higher price than here XD
Holland just knows how to do drugs good.
The beer is good
The pot is good
The cigarettes are good
The coffee is also good
In Germany well...
The beer is fantastic!
The pot is usually smuggled from holland anyway
The cigarettes are good
The coffee is pretty bad.
But I drink more beer than coffee so in my opinion Germany wins!
We still have the name and fame for the weed.
I hoped to hear something other then weed/beer/Amsterdam for a change.
Although it stays fun to hear it from people, it would be nice if the tourists paid some attention to other stuff too, instead of landing at Schiphol and diving into a coffeeshop straight away and telling the folks back home about what great weed we have.

Indeed

Many Dutch people don't use drugs, mate.
% obese Americans > % pot smoking Dutch
Harddrags are illegal anyway.
As for the list of famous Dutch people, many of them I don't even know.

Why not tell US what is good about Holland? After all you should know and maybe point us in the right direction and away from the pot, pornography and prostitution of Amsterdam.
These are a the things that spring to mind first but after those when I think of Holland I think of:
Edam Cheese
Clogs
The Little boy who stuck his finger in the dyke
Windmills
Diamonds
Great Football Team
Great Football Fans
Very Orange football team and fans
Tulips
Flat Countryside
Van der Valk (1970’s cop show set in Holland)
Anything I am missing?
Netherlands is well known for their leniency in drug-use. Interesting.

Guido van Rossum: creator of the Python programming language
Some painters: Rembrandt, Frans Hals, Vermeer and Karel Appel
And some writers: Multatuli, Harry Mullisch ("The Discovery of Heaven")
A beer: Heineken
And of course The Delta Works (or maybe you meant those when you mentioned the finger in the dyke
)
Some actors and directors: Famke Janssen (Bond-girl, I believe), Paul Verhoeven, Jeroen Krabbe
It isn't much, but it's a small country after all.

I love HOlland!
Its small, easy to leave and the people are nice (once you get to know them very well)
I love the Dutch summer fesitvals, and the best of Holland is QUeens Day, the worst of Holland is Carnival (int he south), I like that everything is open minded in Holland, but hate the tourists that go to Amsterdam sit in a Coffee Shop for a few days comatozed and they say, 'yeah I love Holland' there is much more to this country and its people, and there are much more interesting places to visit than the inside of an Amsterdam Coffee Shop......
I love Amsterdam too....
I love my Dutch friends and my Dutch family and the beautiful house I lived in there.......
De walletjes from Amsterdam, Schiphol, KLM. Drugs. Also Tiesto is from Holland, Marco Van Basten, Soccer. Dutch people leaves in small houses with lot of mirrors.

I'm from Scotland so these may not be correct ... but what about
Van Gogh
The Philips Evoluon Museum in Endhoven (and of course the world famous Philips company itself)
Did someone mention Great Lager (as opposed to dark beer)
Rutger Hauer
Lovely women
Friendly people
and of course they all speak perfect English (because we're too lazy or ignorant to learn any other language I suppose).
Before any British or Americans reply saying .. but I speak 42 languages - yes some people do (well maybe not 42 but you know what I mean). But the whole of the Dutch population speaks English as well as we do (they might have an accent you're not used to - but their English is very, very good).

Most of the airport I have been if not all, have smoking room/s.
Dutch science is very good, particularly at Delft... which explains why I was there. I had one interesting experience trying to explain quantum mechanics to a bunch of guys smoking marijuana... hehehe.
When I went to Amsterdam the thing I liked best was the maritime history museum. Honestly. Sounds boring, I know, but it really is fascinating to see the way that the map got filled in. I also liked ice skating on Dam square, maybe because it was so different from home.
Lol, very funny to hear from other people what they think of the Netherlands. I'm from Holland too.
I personally think it's very boring, but I think you always think that of your own country.
What I like very much is 'De Efteling', maybe because I'm 14 years old, but I think it's pretty funny for grown-ups also. It's a 'pretpark', there are rollercoasters, but also things for the little ones, as, eh, what's it's name again... eh, 'Droomland' or something.
Rutger Hauer is also a good actor by the way (The 10th Kingdom and Floris)
The best kept secret in Amsterdam is the Dutch Resistance Museum http://www.verzetsmuseum.org/english/indexE.html It's amazing. You really appreciate the what the Dutch went through during WWII as well if you're Canadian they have a huge exhibit about the Canadians during that time. It's a great museum and well worth going to.
I lived in HOlland for two years and love the culture, the people, the countryside, everything but the stupid tourists in Amsterdam who go and get stoned for a weekend and go home saying 'I love HOlland'.
There is so much more to the beauty of Holland!
;)
What I like about Holland are the big isles in the far south-west. The province is called Zeeland. I wish I could afford to live there. It's peaceful and people are in no rush there, there seems to be no stress, only large beaches, sun and beer and all the other good stuff Holland brings forth.

A few things:
- The Little boy who stuck his finger in the dyke.
American fiction, not dutch, we do have a statue somewhere to earn cash because American tourists actually think it's true. Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hansje_Brinker )
- Tulips
MUST SEE: Keukenhof
- Van der Valk (1970’s cop show set in Holland)
I have never heard of that. It is a big chain of restaurants here.
- Van Gogh en Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam
- Neeltje Jans in Zeeland
Our fight against floodings. Very impressive, even if you are Dutch yourself. Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Works
- Somebody named Madurodam already.
- Our Zoos. We have alot of zoos in the country.
If you ever visit Amsterdam, DO NOT rent a bike there. Unless you have a deathwish. Use the trams!
Yes use the trams the bike thing is fun but crazy especially when you are not use to bike traffic.
je vergeet de klompen en molens

I'll have to say the city Leiden was my favorite place. I was there last year with my school for 2 weeks taken a course in University of Leiden. The weather was gorgeous. Althought it was summer time but it wasn't hot at all. Everywhere I go in the city was great place for picture taken. Everybody was very nice to travellers. We had to walk from the dorm to the trainstation every morning, it was quite a long walk but I couldn't really feel it because the streets are nice to look at. It was also Rembrandt's 400 year anniversary in Leiden which was his birth place. World Cup was also happening at the time, so the city was pretty alive during the day and night. I wish I can speak Dutch, I would really want to move there.
Would like to go there someday, but so far my impression about Holland is Weed Paradise
Anyway, I heard the Tulip and Wind Mill there are beatifuls. Would really love to go around it someday when I have the $$$
I just came back from a school trip to Amsterdam (I swear! hehe...was for a Contemporary Art class /wink) and had a great time. I didn't smoke but I did have a few drinks, did the required tourist visitation of the red light district, went out dancing, inbetween seeing some amazing artwork. I really wish I could go back to Holland itself sometime and explore outside of Amsterdam. (We did go to Den Haag and Rotterdam also, but it'd be neat to travel through the countryside.) My only complain was that the raiiiin was so annoying, six or seven times a day, and boy did I make the mistake to not bring my umbrella with me just because it was sunny out.
