sure, you can do that.
upload archives & extract them in cPanel.
but I'm afraid that rar format is very much version dependent.
If you rar your files with the newer format (2.0 I suppose), they might not be compatible with the cPanel software.
I would suggest not to use rar for this purpose.
use zip it doesn't have as many compatibility issues
or tar.gz it's got higher compression ratios compared to zip, and I have personally tested it with cPanel.
