Hi all,
This is my first post in any kind of online forum for a good couple of years now - but I've been ignoring my poor computer for too long and have decided to give it another go!
I haven't really has a good look round all the different topics yet, but I hope I'll be of some use in the areas of technology & design (part of my reason for joining
) and also anything with a musical bent or relating to Manchester.
Hope to settle in well,
fuzzy
Hello and welcome to FriHost the best forum around.
Good to see someone else from the UK here, the more the merrier.
The forum has some great people to chat with and get to know, just be an active poster and check out all the stickies on the threads and you will soon be one of the gang I am sure.
If you need any help just shout, there will be someone on here who can help I am sure.
See you in the threads.
Kind Regards
The Captain
P.S. Are you planning on taking advantage of the free Webspace? If so what do you plan to do with it?
Thank you - are there many people from the UK on here? I've had a bit of a poke around now and the forums seem to be a complete mix from all over the world!
I intend to use my webspace for getting myself up to speed with php to start with, then hopefully launch a a site for my designs (pictures, suitable for t-shirts and the like I hope) later on in the year.
Worth a try anyway, if nothing else!
Cheers,
fuzzy
There are a few on here from the UK, plenty from the US and Canada as well as Europe too. There also seems to be quite a number from Asia. I think just about every continent, if not nation, on the entire globe has a fair contingent on here.
Also, there is a good mix of ages. From youngsters right up to the oldest member who I think might actually be me coming up to 40!!!
If I am wrong about this please someone tell me - PLEASE!
The other good thing about Frihost is that no matter where they come from the vast majority (and I mean 99.9999%) of people on here are friendly and will help you as much as they can if you need help and really want to learn.
The forum is superb, usually buzzing night and day with a good turn-over of topics. New people joining daily but the same faces tend to stick around too.
There is just about any topic you would like to talk about covered somewhere in here.
I really hope you can stick around because I am really aiming to get the UK well represented on here and you seem like someone who will post quality posts. I think the onus is on quality of posts rather than quantity but if you have something to say there is certainly nothing wrong with quantity too.
The moderators on here are very firm but also very fair. They usually know who is here for the community and who is here to stir up trouble, this is the best-moderated forum I have been on for keeping the threads clean and tidy although they can sometimes be a bit irritable and grumpy (but who can blame them, they put up with some garbage on here and everyone has a bad day please dont feed them after midnight!
).
I think the biggest tip I can give you, which seems to keep the moderators from giving you a verbal kicking is read the stickies and TOS, SEARCH before adding a new posts and just be nice.
Even then you may make a mistake or two (I know I have) but as long as you do all you can to keep everyone happy the mods seem to be happy to help and guide you along.
Well that is all the info I think you could need, or indeed want.
So see you in the threads (again).
Regards
The Captain

I guess all I can say is welcome, seeing that the captain covered everything else
enjoy the experience.
Nice to see another Brit here. And I must say, you're the closest one to home I've seen yet. ^_^
I'm new here too so I guess it's time to make my own introduction thread, eh?
Thank you all for your warm welcomes! I'm going to have to look for some regional threads to join in on - or start some if there aren't any
In reply to the Captain, I'm afraid I'm going to have to rely on the "quality" of my posts - rather than quantity as I don't get to go online that often... I'm going to have my work cut out heh!
Once again, thank you all - right, now off to browse the forums!
Cheers,
fuzzy
Welcome to the forums Fuzzy-Duck!
I'm from Ireland, close enough to the UK, perhaps too close?
