i want to play video from my site

anshu
Hi,
i got one idea to show some information in my webpage as video, can make it secure to be downloaded and also keeep it integrated to the webpage.
how can i play any small movie on our webpage

You could upload it to youtube and include the videoviewer on your site (very easy) - then for the download part you just need to add a link to a movie uploaded to your hosting account and ask your viewers to "right click and save as".

Please be aware that this would take up a lot of both filespace and bandwidth...

You don't even have to do that. Just link to the embedded video onto YouTube. Yes, it's an FLV, but people can deal with it.

Why not set up a password protected area? Put the video in the password protected section of your website and only registered members will be able to view it.

Should you not have the technical know how to set up a password protected section. Perhap you would like to use a content management software. A good choice would be Joomla! as it have lotta video sharing extension which are able to protect to a certain extent the videos from being downloaded. Even Youtube was intended not to be downloaded but people bypassed the protection so I don't think you can easily prevent downloads from people determined to do so.

well it may not be the reason for less video sharing,

can any one tell me use of .flv files for video....

In the latest version of flash they have a video converter...so essentially you can play your videos in a built in .swf file, the file output is small and people aren't given access to the source video. I highly recommend it as an alternative to youtube

Thanks shoe22,
ltwomba
1- convert files to .flv
2- upload
3- let flowplayer do the job
flowplayer is an swf that plays your flvs just like youtube player does, but from your webpage (i mean you upload flowplayer and its stuff and that's it)
it's here: http://flowplayer.sourceforge.net/
