553 Prohibited file name {SOLVED}

When i put .htaccess file into my server with cuteftp it says:
cuteftp wrote:

COMMAND:> STOR .htaccess
STATUS:> Connecting FTP data socket 172.16.1.20:61995...
553 Prohibited file name: .htaccess
ERROR:> Access denied.


Do you know the reason?

may be there is a .htaccess file already on the server

No. There is no any file called .htaccess.

Problem solved. Server was using Pure-FTPd for file transfer. In confgiguration there was
ProhibitDotfilesWrite yes
ProhibitDotfilesRead yes
So after changin it to
ProhibitDotfilesWrite no
ProhibitDotfilesRead no
it worked. Hope this will also help others.
