Moving phpBB from one host to another

How can i move the phpBB forums data from the old installation to the new installation
Actually i want to move my existing forum to another host. Can another quick question, can the data be merged.

I don't know what you mean by merged, but yes, it can be moved.

Copy all the files to the other host, backup the MySQL database, import the database into the MySQL database on the new host and update your config.php accordingly, and it should work Smile

by merge i mean that,
suppose i have two forums, know the thing i want to do is combine the data as a one forum.
can this be done?>

No, not as such. Even if you succeed your dbase will be a mess and totally unusable. You have to find a program or phpbb-addon to do this for you (or write such a program yourself).

No suggestion but what you could do is copy the user table from phpmyadmin save it somewhere. Then import it into your new server db. Thats for users. As for content you are SOL in my opinion. When i moved my forum to Frihost i just transfered my DB, updated the settings in the DB using phpmyadmin to point to the correct domain host and cookies. Then i went to phpbb install and all was back to the way it was on the old server.
