need help: force .pdf file to open in new browser window

ammonkc
I can't seem to get my links to .pdf files to open in a new browser window. In FireFox and IE7 it will only give me the options to "save to disk" or "open with external program". I've tried using both target="_blank" and with javascript window.open(). but neither seem to work with FF or IE. It does work with Safari and the mac.

My question is how can I force my links to .pdf files to open in a new browser window?
Thanks,
TomS
The AdobeReader Plugin for IE must be installed on the pc of the user who wants to read the pdf-file.

you mean like this ?

http://www.planetpdf.com/mainpage.asp?webpageid=1682

so let's say you have main page and want to open a new page that has PDF
well instead linking off to PDF directly just it link it off to a new html file that has PDF embeded in Very Happy

Cheers
TomS
Good idea. Thanks for the link. But you also need a plugin to download. I think it originally comes from adobe, too...
