Just watch trailers. I can't stand on my chair. I'm going mad. I WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

This is gonna be the best movie ever in my life. Oh yeah, the best.

300 vs 1 000 000.

Here's the synopsis :

Based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, "300" is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy, drawing a line in the sand for democracy. The film brings Miller‘s acclaimed graphic novel to life by combining live action with virtual backgrounds that capture his distinct vision of this ancient historic tale.

OMG, OMG OMG AHHH OMG OMG OMG.

This movie does look sick, and while I'll admit the synopsis sounds cool, if it weren't for the badass trailers this film wouldn't be getting nearly as much buzz. Props to whoever cut the trailer together and mixed the music, it's one of the best and most memorable trailers I've seen in a long time. No doubt 300 will be sweet, but now it's going to have to live up to the hype the trailers are generating. Booya,

The trailers look amazing and if this is based on a graphic novel they have done a good job of keeping the graphic novel look.

I too fear that the movie has a good chance of falling way below the mark set by the trailers but I don't doubt this movie will get a spin in my DVD player in the future - I am not so excited as to go it at the cinema which will probably increase its scale 1000%

When I watch trailers full of excitement like that I always ask myself how much preamble would be required to get us to that stage in the movie.

I can see with this movie either a LOT of preamble and scene setting or just a mess of special effects and no story.

Let's hope I am wrong.

The movie definitely looks good. i want to see it. It sounds similar to the games such as age of empires and age of mythology which i love.
KoiboySG1
I realy want to see this movie. it looks like gladiator with fantasy elements.
niho_gs
it looks great and I will go the the cinema to watch it when it comes here. Shocked

I heard this movie is coming out in IMAX format. I have never seen a movie on an IMAX screen, but I think I will watch 300 on one. I refuse to watch any more trailers because I want to go in fresh. I even had to skim overs some of these posts since they explain the basic plot. I dont think anything was givin away, I just like to know as little as possible about a movie before seeing it.

SPARTANS..........TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!

Ok I could not resist....

I saw the trailer and this movie looks like it'll be a good one...

Heard someone say it's like a cross between Lord of the Rings and Troy.

I just looks great. Have a look at the high definition trailers hosted in the Apple website. IT'S FREAKIN' AWESOME!!

Last night I made a T-shirt with a 300 design on the front.

It looks just amazing.
And I can't wait to wear it to the opening of the show.
lethaltriad
This is definately a movie that I am anticipating to watch along with The Transformers. 300 looks so artistic and me being a photography I can appreciate the effort they made to give it that overall look. I'll be the first in line to watch it when it reaches here.
warallthetm
I'm watching the movie right now, its REALLY good.
jay84h
This movie sound pretty cool!
Josso
Ok, I am the first one to break the mood... but I have to do it. I've seen the trailer 3 times, once in the cinema when I was watching Blood Diamond. It just looks like a wannabe LOTR fight scene movie... there's way too much CGI by the looks of it. Seems like there's no real content to it at all - overal: wtf?

Although... seeing that IMAX mention above does kind of sound promising.
kevbailey
The real story has it that it was
300 Spartans, 700 Thespians, and 6,000 other Greek allies vs 120,000 - 2,000,000 (estimates vary from source to source. This was from Wikipedia. It is not always accurate). I find it hard to believe that you can feed 2 million people in ships. It would be almost impossible.

The movie looks pretty good, though.
budazz
its a must film if you love war movies, heroism specially if your a greek...

There's still been some question as to whether the region could support that large of a force. Hell even in a modern conventional war, most armies would be hard-pressed to be able to successfully field that large of a force so far away from home. Most historians and anthropologists estimate the force was closer to 300-400k strong. Which if you consider it, is still a pretty formidible force, especially against 300 (or 1,000, counting the 700 Thespians.)

Miller's graphic novel is excellent, but I'm just not convinced I'd like this as a film. I mean Greek historical combat epics have been done to death already.

I haven't seen it yet, but I have heard from some of my friends who saw it and everyone says it is amazing.

yeah i reckon this looks wild! i didnt see david wenham in the trailer tho hes a gun and frank miller is the new black in cinema - sin city plus its sequels and this puppy, gonna be a good time to see some interesting visuals with odd storylines

oh and yeah most likely be violent, but i guess his comics must be, so thats fair enough.

so far this movie gets Very Happy but a Sad for no wenham in trailer
roninmedia
Good movie, sometimes over the top.

History Channel had a show about the 300. According to their historians, it was 300 spartans and 7,000 other greek soldiers versus 300,000 persian troops on land. The persians also had 1,000 ships. I didn't get to watch all of the show, though.

the trailor look mindblowing...really looing fwd o see this movie.

I heard it has grossed 70m in the first week.

The special effect are great and the movie looks amazing.

Hi there,

300 will go to cinemas here in two weeks time and its possible to watch its influence in many aspect of the online world, specially games. Suddenly, the word Spartan is getting overused Smile

I love the theme of the movie and all the trailers i've seen so far have left me speechless...OMG awesome special effect and full pack hack n' slash action. I think i couldn't ask for more in a movie of this kind. And being a work from Frank Miller (God i also love Sin city), i'm quite sure it is a great movie.

Can't wait to see it Razz

Stay COol!

This is one movie that didn't disappoint me. Quite a feat considering I had high expectations which got multiplied after hearing so many good reviews from people I knew who already saw it. Some of the fight scenes did give me a headache though because of it's stop & go effects (cool for a minute, hard to watch after 5), but overall the look & feel were outstanding (very similar to that of sin city which I also loved).

Just so everyone knows, I'm not using words like 'best' and 'favorite' to describe it. If you go in expecting the best movie ever or your new favorite movie, you could potentially be disappointed. Rather, go in expecting a good entertaining movie and you will surely be satisfied.
budazz
sure a blockbuster film i love the effect and the battle scene,,,,,, its really worth to watch Very Happy
missdixy
Loved this movie - I think they did a good job at portraying the story and the Spartans.
Vedder6
i thought the movie was awesome. it took them 3 years to finish the soundm, and im sure it took the actors a few years to shape their bodys. i saw some youtube 300 training video and saw some of the workouts the actors did... now thats dedication!
illegalhost
oh man, 300 is freakin COOL!!!!! the bods are awesome, the character and the spirit of the heroes are damn touching, and the fighting scenes are AWESOMEEE!!! i would recommend this show to anyone (esp guys)... not sure if the ladies might like it tho, it is more of a guy (fighting and all-mighty) kind of shows, not so much of the love kind of shows... besides, Spartans are not expected to show much feelings either - HAHA. talk about manly. COOL!!! I'm addicted to Spartans after watching the show man!! i got the wallpaper right on my desktop too!!! SPARTANS - MARCH!!!

Just watched the movie the other day. Let me just say this; ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY! I heard that it took over a year to edit this movie, but it was worth it! An amazing acheivement by Zack Snyder the director. The movie itself was fun to watch from the start. So much violence! I'm not going to spoil it for anyone else but tell everyone to go watch this movie now! I might just might watch it again.
Zyphrius
OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I watched this movie last night and was blown away by it. I went to it expecting it to be amazing which is usually a bad thing, but in this case I underestimated the movie.

IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The CG was done extremely well, there is a lot of CG but it is done in a very good way.

It is obvious to see this was done by the same people that did SIN CITY which was an amazing movie as well.

This is a definite theater experience movie!! If there was an IMAX where I live I would definetly go see it there.

Waiting for this come out on DVD and Blue Ray would be to rob yourself of the experience.

Go see it, if you like old age Greek movies you will not be disappointed, and if those of you are not aware, this movie does take some truth from the past experience's between the Spartans and Persians, The movie is a wok of fiction but it is based around true events which I feel is amazing.

Go See it you will not be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Immortals-L
I know the battle between sparta and the persian army, as it really happened

( not with 300 vs 1 mil or w/e :p but still very much )

I do wanna see it, but i think it'll be a lil bit to unreal.... meh idk :p i'll see Smile

I just saw 300 the other night. It was a good movie, not great. A little too long in my opinion. At times I felt like I was bored to death and wanted to check my cell to see what time it was(don't worry, my cell phone was on silent as to not to be obnoxious and disturb other movie goers). Overall though, the director was able to capture the graphic novel feel. The fight choreography was fairly well done as well.
kasper105
This movie is awesome!!!
I like the fighting scenes (which is basicly the whole movie!)
datter
The previews for this film actually look interesting which is amazing because I generally hate movies. Smile
LumberJack
It was alright, nothing that great. It was long as hell.

Kinda comical about how the producer was able to make North America fall in love with one of the most homosexual cultures in human history. LOL.
Tom7
yeah, not sure about this movie, seems like its half animated half real footage. also, seriously, 300 against a million is a bit over the top.

Just watched it a while ago with my friends. The movie is awesome. I really liked it.

Tom7 wrote:

300 againsts a million alone would be really retarded. but they had all those fantasy elements like the immortals, and the creatures who kept the oracle (the oracle was hot!) and stuff. so it sort of balances out. I like this movie, the effects make troy look like a joke ...
Anotherevil
Awesome Movie. Key things I liked
1) Action. Very well camera work. I mean they really knew when to zoom in and when to slow it down and everything.
2) I loved how the narrator was speaking. It really added a lot to the whole movie.
3) The king, the way they portrayed him was really good, with the beard and the heavy voice.
4) The dialogues are very nicely written.
5) WTF was up with all that toned body? It made me feel like a complete fool. I heard all the actors trained for a year to get that toned body. DAMN!

One thing I didn't like was that the Persian king looked queer. No offense, but he just seemed abnormal.

Best Scene, when the king is on his knees and someone jumps on his back and throws the spear.

loved the movie. Really have to see it. It should win the oscars this year.

But what about Spider Man 3. I think that's its main contender for the Oscar nominations.
deStructuralized
To whoever said 300 was a great display of Spartan history, know that it was terribly inaccurate from a historical standpoint.

That doesn't make the movie any less fun or great (though I could've done without the scene between the Queen and councilman), but just know that in real life Spartan citizens had like 7 slaves each and lived and died as fighting machines, not believers in culture or freedom.

THIS! IS! SPARTAAA!
TribalArt
Has any one seen the film '300' with the Spartans and Persians

I have, I thought it was good, too much CGI.

Any other thoughts on it?

I remember the first time I saw the trailer, I was blown away. The original trailer for this movie, in my opinion, is one of the best, coolest movie trailers I've ever seen. It had me very excited to see this movie.

Such great action and battle sequences. I remember telling one of my friends that the Spartans were the original bad asses. These guys didn't know the meaning of the word 'surrender'.

At its core, I think it was a love story.. The story of a king who loved his Sparta and his queen.

Even with all of the over done CGI stuff, this movie rocked!
TheGustav
I loved this movie!

I don't see all that many movies, and usually the ones that are hyped end up being just mediocre, nothing special....

But this one.. Oh, this one, it was amazing! Definitely kept me and my friends on the edge of our seats, constant action, surprisingly quite a bit of humor thrown in there to lighten the mood between fight scenes... Loved the effects, pretty much everything.

Sure, the random soft core porn scenes may have been unnecessary... Rolling Eyes

Also, it got a little weird at times... When you just have to look around you wondering what the heck am I seeing on screen? Like... the various odd things the Persians had.... Odd things or no odd things, the movie was great!

Definitely a MUST see!!!

This gets 2 thumbs up approval.
Milky.
Yesterday I saw it on cinema.

I'd say it was very nice movie and I recommend it to everybody!
It had nice effects and everything, also a very nice story!

next Wednesday, i am going to watch this movie and i think, it could be the best in 2007. I'm so exciting... Wink

Really great film, easily the best i have seen this year.

Am gonna go watch it again really soon.
trumnation
That movie should win some awards. It is great because of their attention to detail and their ability to keep pulling the audience into the movie the whole way through. I find that in medevil movies like that where they keep fighting the whole movie I get quite bored and loose interest quickly because the fights have little to do with the story or are dragged on too long. They have done an excellent job in tailoring the fight scenes to portray the storyline and keep the movie moving along. I will for sure see it again acutally, after writing this, I think I will go rent it.
zanzou
Saw it, loved it (especially any instance that involved people/animals falling over some sort of edge.... great visuals, there. :D), though one of the people I was with was originally Persian (by some connection I didn't actually get) and siad he found it kind of offensive...

Though really, I'm not sure why, since the culture obviously changed so drastically in the time between when this was set and today (largely due to the indroduction of Islam).

:) I'd been looking forward to seeing it since November... didn't disappoint.

I don't mind the movie deviating a little away from fact, this movie is, after all, historical fiction.

What is weird though is that people got too sensitive about it just because it's Persian (Middle Eastern) versus Sparta (Western), thus Iran's protests against the movie.

People are reading too much into it, and even when they do, they don't get that this is your basic David vs. Goliath story -- not a political whatever.

There are times when you just have to sit back, relax, and enjoy something, and with this movie, that will prove to be worthwhile entertainment.
m00tmuffin
Was a gorgeous film--well thought-out, developed, seamless...what more could you ask for? I was able to put aside the inaccuracies in regards to history (why blame the film? it was Miller's decision to exercise his own artistic take on it) and just appreciate it for what it was. It was so just visually enthralling and allows the viewer to just get sucked into it's beauty.
Osmodius
"They may take our lives, but they will never take, our SPARTA!!!"

The only differences between 300 and Braveheart are, 300 had better fight scenes and Braveheart had a storyline/some historical accuracy.

It takes more than special effects to make a movie, and while most of you may have enjoyed it for the pretty colors and oddly satisfying blood-explosions, I seriously doubt you could sit through it again.
bluefossil
I still liked it, But the Oracle scene kinda bugged me. I guess the girl was holding her breath under water to get the floating and such going in the shot. but I wish she could have had a more natural look to her face. It just seemed strange with her hold her breath in the whole sequence.
ballinboy13
I thought it was a pretty good movie. I guess I'm just into the effects of the movie, not historical accuracy or anything. It could've been better, but it was a great movie to me

OH yeah, I don't know how it looks in the regular theaters, but I saw 300 in IMAX, Except for the fact the seats are no where near as comfy as the ones at the AMC's. It really is a good movie. I enjoyed watching it. I have only seen it once, but I would love to see it again. I love historical movies and this one ranks among my top 10.

Most movies either have to be action or comedy to catch my attention. I just love how they portray the longer fight scenes in slow motion so the audience knows exactly what happened to get them that far. Overall, I recommend this movie to anyone who is an action guru.

I just love it!

I don't really care if it was historically correct or not, I just wanted action. And Jesus, this movie is pure action...

This movie can be described in one word

AMAZING

I watched it over and over and even wrote down the dialogues

Here are some amazing dialogues from the movie of the year "300"

Quote:
Leonidas: Before you speak, Persian, know that in Sparta everyone, even a king’s messenger, is responsible for the words of his voice. Now...what message do you bring?

Persian Messenger: Earth and water.

Leonidas: [Laughs] You rode all the way from Persia for earth and water?

Gorgo: Do not be coy or stupid, Persian. You can afford neither in Sparta.

Persian Messenger: What makes this woman think she can speak among men?

Gorgo: Because only Spartan women give birth to real men.

Persian messenger: All the God-King Xerxes requires is this: a simple offering of earth and water. A token of Sparta's submission to the will of Xerxes.

Leonidas: Submission...Well that's a bit of a problem. See rumor has it that the ATHENIANS have already turned you down. And if those philosophers and boy-lovers have that kind of nerve...

Theron: We must be diplomatic.

Leonidas: And of course Spartans...have their reputation to consider.

Persian messenger: Choose your next words carefully, Leonidas. They may be your last as king.

[Leonidas draws his sword and points it towards the Persian messenger, whose back is to a large, deep well]

Persian messenger: Madman! You're a madman!

Leonidas: Earth and water...you'll find plenty of both down there.

Persian messenger: No man -- Persian or Greek -- no man threatens a messenger!

Leonidas: You bring the crowns and heads of conquered kings to my city's steps. You insult my queen. You threaten my people with slavery and death! Oh, I've chosen my words carefully, Persian. Perhaps you should have done the same!

Persian messenger: This is blasphemy! This is madness!

Leonidas: [He looks at Gorgo, who nods to him] Madness? THIS IS SPARTA!!. [kicks the messenger down the well]

What say?? Amazing Huh?? this was also shown in the trailer

Here's another one

Quote:
Dilios : So my king died, and my brothers died, barely a year ago.
Long I pondered my king's cryptic talk of victory. But time has proven him wise,
for from free Greek to free Greek the word was spread that bold Leonidas and his 300,
so far from home, laid down their lives, not just for Sparta, but for all Greece and
the promise this country holds. Now, here on this ragged patch of earth called Plataea,
Xerxes hordes face obliteration! Just there the barbarians huddle, sheer terror
gripping tight their hearts with icy fingers, knowing full well what merciless
horrors they suffered at the swords and spears of 300. Yet they stare now across
the plain at 10,000 Spartans commanding 30,000 free Greeks! Ho! The enemy
outnumber us a paltry three to one! Good odds for any Greek. This day we rescue a world from
mysticism and tyranny, and usher in a future brighter than anything we can imagine.
Give thanks, men, to Leonidas and the brave 300! To victory!

Only wish they had won!!

The movie IS SICK!

The characters (and actors) are soo good, the action sequence are the best and the script is very nice (the history itself is not very good, but the script saves the day by connecting the things properly).
So far, it's the best HQ transcription I've ever seen.

... oh, yeah! The visual effects! ahahaha
It looks like a painting. And being an epic film couldn't be more appropriate than that. What a damn great idea they head.
deStructuralized
When you go to watch a movie like this you know what you're getting into...

The plot really isn't going to be that interesting: 300 guys fight for a while. First they win. Then they die.

You can tell from the commercials that it's going to be special effects and action heavy.

Frankly, people need to just enjoy it for what it is.

It was THE MOST epic film I've ever watched--mostly cool, but often dramatic to the point where certain lines, situations, expressions, special effects etc, were just plain funny.

Plus it's spawned a whole bunch of hilarious ytmnds (www.ytmnd.com, search: 300TMND), a hilarious South Park spoof, and so forth.

So if you know better than to take yourself and a fun movie too seriously, go watch it...it's good fun.

Really liked this movie aldo there was basicly no story i must say it was just fun to watch it.

If you're thinking about spending money to watch 300, I'd suggest you just watch the trailer.

The film doesn't give you anything you can't get from the trailer. xD
Alaskacameradude
As a guy who produces videos and such for a living, I have to say, the trailer was very very very well made. I would bet the trailer made them a bunch of money as people were going to see the movie based off what they saw on the trailer.

It looks like a good movie, I don't really go to movies in the theatre anymore (two small kids under 3) but I sure do rent a lot of DVD's. I will surely see this when it comes out on DVD as it looks like my kind of movie. I'm sorry, but it's a movie not real life. I know and expect it is going to deviate from the actual history somewhat as do almost all movies. The point of a movie is to be entertained, not to worry about if it is "totally accurate" and all. Some people won't be entertained by a action heavy FX movie. Others will be. I'm in the second group.
tkGER
the proof of how something can be ruined in the end... I certainly didn't expect much, everyone told me it was worth because of the special effects it had, and they were right...
the plot wasn't that bad for a spill-all-the-ketchup-you-can-on-the-set movie, but at the end it was more like a chewing gum that keeps on stretching... it dissappointed me in the end, but WOW the effects Cool
