i need a reliable fearly easy chat box for my web site which iv made in front page. i would be greatfull if people could post a html code they know of or a link to a site they know is good for this code. thank you in advance

I want this chat box so when people type a message and press submit it saves the message onto the webpage so others can view this message and reply to it.

If your chat box will send messages between computers you wil need to use a server scripting language like PHP or ASP, You might try posting in that forum, or in the marketplace.

Yup, you're going to need some PHP, perhaps you can get a mod to move this thread for you.

As for the script you need, if you want a small box that people can leave shout outs in, then perhaps this might be what your looking for.

yes there are ads every once in a while, but it works, and can be formatted to fit your layout.

you means a shoutbox, a box that stay in a page, the users can submit messages that will remain in the box even if they close the pages...

first i things it's impossible to write a file with html only, so you would need a scripting language to do it such as cgi( Embarassed

) php asp or javascript?

the most "simple" way that i can imagine to do it is a script that writes a file and retrieve the data from it...

there are some problems on this kind of shoutbox, open the last link, there is a link in a message inside the shoutbox, if you click the page opens inside the shoutbox =/...

if you wanna to use it as a chat you will need to refresh de page constantly, and probably you will have file access issues when more than one person try to post at the same time...

or you can look for a chat itself...
it will not remain in the page, which is necessarelly a good thing, imagine the size of a file created by a chat??

i used to use cbox something similar to the ones above, you can also edit it to suit your page, http://www.cbox.ws/ you also have the option to go pro too

ok so here is the best way iv found its free and its safe from spyware and all that junk right so anyway i made a new piczo account then i added a shout box to the front page, then i opend up ms front page and went on to a link which opend up the piczo site into my editor i then copyed the code of the shout box and pasted it into a html tag on my site so i get my shout box hosted for free by piczo.
