BAY CITY, Mich. - A lovers' quarrel and a case of mistaken identity has landed a teenager behind bars after police say he repeatedly rammed a teenage girl's car, thinking it was his girlfriend.

State police told The Saginaw News that the victim _ a 17-year-old from Pinconning _ called 911 early Sunday when the suspect smashed his car into the rear of hers.

The 17-year-old suspect struck her car about 15 times and pushed it through stop signs at intersections, the victim told police.

Dispatchers advised her to lead the suspect toward police units who were en route to intercept them, police said.

State police troopers and Bay County sheriff's deputies caught up with the suspect and pursued the Bay City teen at speeds of up to 90 miles per hour, police said.

The teen told police he thought the driver was his girlfriend, who left a party after the couple quarreled. He said he wanted to talk to her and get his goodnight kiss, so he went searching for her, police said.

He told police he was talking to his girlfriend on his cell phone, telling her to stop her car. She told him she was stopped and didn't know what he was talking about, officers said.

The teen likely will face charges including assault with a vehicle, fleeing police and drunk driving.

Ok that is just dumb in my opinion. One he should have just left it til the morning to talk to her because we all know that you can't resolve an argument while you are drunk... trust me, been there done that.

I hope that he does get charged with assault since he shouldn't have been smashing into another car in the first place wether it was his girlfriends or not. I hope that he lost his licence due to that, I mean that is just totaly stupid.

The vast majority of humans are idiots. This guy... I'm not even going to say anything. It is my personal belief that the judge should throw the book at him.

Wow, the fact that he couldn't even tell whether or not it was his girlfriend's car or not doesn't say much for their relationship to begin with, and the fact that he thought chasing her down and hitting her car to get her to stop after they'd been fighting was a good idea... It just boggles the mind that anyone would think that would be a good course of action. Confused

At any rate, I think he should have to pay for all the damage to that poor woman's car, as well as a decent punishment for the other things he did. I'm not sure what sentences are common for what he's being charged with, but I definitely don't think he should be let off easy.

I defiantly agree... Perhaps people should be required to get an IQ test to drive? Razz (jk)

OMG this guy is really an Idiot. I also agree with what Chalchihuitlicue said. Didn't he realize it wasn't his girlfriend's car.. I think he was drunk or something. Or well we don't know the inside story...
Perhaps it was his girlfriend who was prolly scared of him because he's a psycho and she lied to the police to be saved from him.

Well, I think that may solve some problems, but unless you are gonna test while the people are drunk, that won't help that much. And how do you test for maturity?

And while Babsta does have a point, I doubt that the guy would lie about it as well. Wink

Hrm, so am I supposed to sit back, cross my arms, and call him an idiot? Well, I don't plan on doing that, but this example just goes to show you how obsessive teens can get over their boyfriend/girlfriend, and how dangerous that obsession can be. He did put her life into danger several times (pushing her car through intersections and whatnot).
