It's obvious that the contract with Madrid is about to expire. So what you guys think? Of course Beckham is not the best player in the world, but he is a good player. And I think the reason why he get really high paying contract is because his pretty face and frame.
Should Beckham go play in US?
well i also believe that bekham is not the best player and he is a good player bvut all that he has earned in his carrer is quite appreciable.. so i think he should not go in us and loose all that
Yes, why not? Every old superstar goes there.
If not, they were going to west Asia, like Qatar.

Yes I Support him doing That
Yup, it would be better for him as well as US Football.
Yea, and big players are going to places like Asia or the US. Figo, for instance.

Well, he's going!!
LA Galaxy. Not a bad salary... $1,000,000 per week for 5 years. I should have carried on practising.
I think he might be the highest paid sportstar in the world, and that's not too bad considering he is thought to be over the hill. Unbelievable really, I think he should still be in the england squad.

Hmmm.... I saw the news, he get really high payment contract. I thought American dudes don't like soccer. I mean the only sport Americans call football hardly play by foot !

That's the entire point. Beckham is brought in as a publicity stunt for professional soccer in the US. Doubt it'll work, though.
NOOOO.... becks should stay in REAL!! What future is there in US?? What? He will open a school there?? HAHA.. Ridiculous!!!! Hope he stays in Real and makes a difference!! But with the money he is getting from LA Galaxy, i think he would be tempted, who wouldn't????!!!!! I would. HAHA. But hey, only Becks can command such ridiculous salary. Wonder why he is such a star. Guess the key is BRAND NAME!!!! Marketing gimmicks. Damn. Good one BECKS!!!!!!

Well it won't be a publicity stunt considering the amout of money they paid for him, but I do think it's good for the sport in the US. US is far behind on soccer, so this might be good.
Also, Ronald Waterreus and Dave van den Bergh, two dutch players are also going to play in the MLF for New York (Red Bulls?). The competition keeps on growing on interest for Europe and that will only be good. Maybe America will once win the World Cup

Might be wrong wording by me... The point is, the sole reason for bidding so much for Beckham seems to be to raise the popularity of football by way of his brand appeal more than actual quality of game.

Tempted? He said yes, already.
i think, David Beckham flees from the realty of Real Madird. At his career by Real Madrid, he doesn't win any price. He is a football player, who can kick freekick very well, but this is not enough. He is over the hill... i don't miss him.
Well.. he signed there already, and I think it wasn't a professional decision.
At Real, maybe only in the first season he played well.. but At Man Utd he played much better than at Real.. maybe it's the age, maybe it's the team or the country... I don't know.
I think that money he will make in USA, nothing alse.

I support his decision.
He is a superstar. Soccer in US has not developed as NBA and Football.
By his presence i think it will flourish soon.
And we hope to see US competing for world cup title.

Well his salary it high enough I'd say. I hope his presence in the MLS will make soccer more popular in the US. Even if he is pretty old to play soccer professionally now (but then again thats what they said about Ronaldo during the World Cup and he did fine)
Are the LA Galaxy person mad for signing beckam for 5 year in 128Millions pound. they will get totally ruined. US isn't good or not so much know for soccer.
I guess this is most expensive deal ever made

I think its great for the USA MLS to get Beckham. They need all the help they can get right now. He has already sold thousands of season tickets according to ESPN, not only in LA, but other cities which face the Galaxy.
This is a PLUS for the MLS and US Soccer as a whole. I am not a big fan of Beckham, but maybe the US Players can take note of his style and hopefully it will rub off on them.
USA!

Beckham going to LA Galaxy can only be a good thing for football in the US,im suprised at the amount of money involved, considering the level which football is played at in the USA,and also the money it generates, which i doubt is very much.
Cappello at madrid has now said that he wont play for real again, which puts beckham in limbo now till the MLS starts in the summer, maybe he will go on loan there for marketing purposes early,or perhaps be loaned out to a european team to keep up his match fitness till then, it would be good to see him back in england for one last time.

i think he is a good player, but he hasn't showed in real madrid all the good stuff that he could do bacj in england. if he can grab some extra money in the following years, good for him. plus, hollywood will be a good place for him and his wife to be (you know, lots of parties..
)
having said that, capello was very mean to say that he wouldn't play again. he himself negociated with another club the last time he was a coach in real madrid.

yeh i think he shud go
hes careers over now, he has enough money.
i bet he turns up in a film next

Bekham says he is going to play in the states to "raise the profile of the game" the truth is probably more like his wife is no longer the media draw she thinks she is and in the states they stand a better chance of keeping her in the public eye. .... Or do I sound a little too cynical.
Everyone knows the reason "soccer" as the americans insist on calling it, wont ever be a major ratings winner is that the game doesn't lend itself to advertising breaks during the game.... unlike NBA, NHL, NFL, baseball etc that stop and start on a regular basis.
Make no mistake the Bekhams are going to the US for 3 reasons. A) Publicity B) Publicity and C) Publicity.
Oh and so the kids don't have to learn a foriegn languge .... well almost ..LOL

The reason he played different when he was with Real and Man Utd is the style of the game and the leagues. These two different leagues have their ways.
I would view this move to the us as a happy lifestyle one more than a financial move. Yes he has got a crazy amount of money included in this deal but do remember how wealthy he already is. He`s doing this for himself & his family rather than the money, he could retire now & still not spend his wealth.
Its obvious he hasnt been happy in himself just lately in spain & this move may be just what he needs to fullfill his life & enjoy his family to the full.

I think the move to states is a great one on becks' part. He has the opportunity to give the soccer league the type of prominence and exposure it has always failed to have! He could single-handedly propel the league to great heights. Yes his star was fading in Europe, but it was/is still there to some degree. Plus he will be right in hollywood so that's more exposure for him and therefore the league. But then, it could all back fire. But even if it does he will always be a star in some fashion or form.
now a days there are two faces at football: the sport and the business. beckham lost his football (sport) long ago, now all he does is show his face and earn millions. the usa, by the other hand, is a nation ruled by business and money and all those things. there is a perfect match: the usa and beckham are meant to be together. happy cupple. unhappy the poor people.
Heck, if he wants to go, let him go.
Its probably the perfect time for him. Hes no longer good enough to hang around in europe (let alone the epl). But hes still got a few decent years left in him, considering that he comes to some bush-league (like mls) and possibly help the leagues popularity. Any viable long term benefits may come in the form of inspiring the next generation of us soccer players. In line with his future plans of opening his own academy, is a very realistic stepping stone. Good move for beckham, great move for the league. But it may turn out, inadvertantly, being the us national team that will see the true fruits of this partnership...
