I have put it into my mind that I want to buy a moped. I live in California, and am in the process of getting my M1 (Motorcycle) license, and would like some advice from the masses how the best way to go about this.
I've written on Honda Activa 150cc's. I liked them, and they seemed like a good balance between speed, economy and size. I would like to buy a 150cc, as I plan on riding with my girlfriend quite a bit of the time.
The dilemma, is that the Activa is not sold in the USA, and I feel uncomfortable buying a Chinese model, as I've been warned against them quite strongly.
My local sports dealership offers Yamaha Vino 125s at around $2500. The bike looks ok, except for two things: 1) the price is rather high (he said around $3200 out the door) and 2) the gas cap is located so you cannot place a rear storage unit.
So what advice do you all have for me? Suck it up and pay $3000 for the Yamaha? Can I find a cheaper/better one in California if I drive a bit? Also, if I buy used, what should I be looking for, and what should I avoid?
