I know with media center 2005 you can burn the recorded tv to dvd, but not in 2004. I also know you can watch the shows in any windows media player. 2005 media center (not sure about 2004) uses the DVR-MS file to record the shows. You need to convert this to use in other programs or devices. These two articles should help

It looks very confusing to convert it. Is there a program that can do it?

As long as you are using Media Center 2005 Windows Media Player will burn them to a usable disk if you have the Sonic Encoders. If not you can purchase their software "Primetime". This will burn all shows recorded with media center 2005 to dvds that can be played anywhere. Not sure if the program will work with 2004.
