Fuel efficiency - 1.6 litre Optra - 12 km / litre

shenyl
I have use the Chewy Optra 1.6 for about 2 years, and the fuel efficiency is about 12 km/litre. It is about the same for my previous Toyota Soluna (1.5 litres) and even my former Fiat Uno (1.0 litre) car.

Anyone know of performance of efficient cars on petrol consumption?

Cost of petrol has sky rocketed, and checking for a possible next change.

But do not mention hybrid cars, as the cost of hybrid cars in Singapore will defeat the saving on petrol consumption.

With regards.

manual shift or auto?
I have a ford focus, and the figures are about the same. Manual cars do better than auto. but I would thing most 1.6 auto cars generally have the same score here.
You should also define your needs - maybe you can buy a smaller car, which might be more gas saving.
What about diesel?

I drive a 1992 Honda Civic. MAN That thing is beat, but I got it for $1500 and it gets me similar mileage. And arch is right, manual transmissions are usually more gas-efficient than automatic transimissions. I wonder about Constant Variable Transmissions (CVT) or at least that's what I tihnk they're called.

Hello arch23, thank you for clarifying about auto, manual - yes, I am refering to manual gear drive.

Diesel is out for Singapore - which will not permit privately own diesel cars, only for taxi and cargo vehicles.

From the replies so far, it seem that I should be happy with my current level of fuel performance.

Guess I will not try to base my selection on fuel comsumption, as long as it is about 12km/litre.

I do notice, that keeping to about 90 km/hour does help to maximise the fuel consumption, even in an urbanised country like Singapore.

Thank you all for your feedbacks.

I have a Nissan Versa 1.5 CVT it did 12.6km/L for 100% town driving,
and 14.2km/highway.

Thank you smoke, you sure don't sound smoke but fuel efficient.

Yes, that is the kind of consumption I like to get.

I will need to check out more, before making a switch.

Is it consistently so just before regular servicing, and right till the next regular servicing?

I asked this because, I notice my 1.6 litre Chevy Optra will do even 15km/litre just after a servicing, and progressively drop to about 12 km/litre.

With best regards. Will check out the green site.
