Hey all, my name is John, and I'm trying to switch my free host, since my last one isn't responding to support questions, and forwarded all my websites to their top page, not even showing mine.
I'm a student, trying to use my computer software site as extra income while I finish school. Have another site to, that I'm building right now, that I'd like to host here also. I study Computer Science at a local community college, and hope to transfer to Oklahoma State.
Let's see, I have one daughter, divorced, no girlfriend, and enjoy chatting and meeting people online. When I'm not stuck in front of the computer, I like watching sports, listening to music, and playing guitar.
I can't think of anything else right now, I hope to chat with you guys and gals, and look forward to a good experience on this site (all the reviews I read were positive.
John
hey john, welcome to frihost! hope you enjoy your time here...see you around...
Welcome to the forum, John. I'm also from Oklahoma. I live in Oklahoma City. I'm also an avid guitar player. What type of axe do you own? I have a few. LOL I'm glad to see there are friendly local people here with similar interests to mine. Good luck with OSU.
Hey John, welcome to Frihost. I'm sure you'll find this to be a reliable server...
Hey Monkeybones, I own a Peavy Predator, just a little starter, with a Bandit amp I think. It's disconnected right now, only thing I don't like about the guitar, wires aren't very solid. I play my dad's Ibanez (spelling?) Just taught myself to read guitar music in December. I can read for piano and sax, but just messed around, playing by ear. Now that I have the basic notes down, I've been messing with a neat program called Musicnotes I found, that shows a note on the fret board, and then you pick the letter. Been showing me the rest of the notes.
Anyway, thanks for the reply. Hope to see ya here.
John
Glad to see you responded. I have been playing guitar for 12 years or so off and on. I can also read music for piano and sax. I have a chrome bundy alto sax. For guitars I have a Schecter Raider with Active Duncan Designed Pickups and a Fender Strat Standard. I have a Takamine GS-120 non-electric acoustic guitar for those mellow jams.
Practice practice practice.. It's the only way to get good. Also, just know that no matter how good you get and the compliments you get from people telling you that the way you play sounds awesome, it still never sounds good to yourself.
That could just be me but I'm a perfectionist. LOL
Yeah, I understand others always thinking your better than you think. I started on Alto, but switched to Tenor, also played some baritone in first jazz band my senior year. I gave my Alto to a family friend, but after he broke his arm, he kinda gave it up. Sorta hard to play, I suppose.
So are you in a band down there in OKC? I was in a Metallica cover for a few months, doing lead vocals and some guitar until we found a real lead singer. But, of course, the infighting started even before our first gig, with the lead guitarst complaining I wasn't cutting it, the bassist saying he and I were buddies and had started it, and our drummer dropped out over the guitarist also. Played sax in a couple bands, even including a western swing band, that I actually got paid to play with (imagine that!)
Anyway, rambled enough. I have a couple free programs that I record on the computer with, but my system can't record a full song. It isn't fast enough, or memory, or something. I can get about 2:30 recorded with my wav recorder.
Talk to ya later,
John
