Any other DeLorean drivers?

PatTheGreat42
I own a 1981 DeLorean DMC-12. I fell in love with DeLoreans after watching Back To The Future and finally got the car just a year ago. Being 25 years old, it's had it's problems, but it's a great old car, and it looks awesome riding down the road with it's stainless steel body and gull wing doors.

I know there are a lot of DeLorean owners organizations, but I was wondering if anyone else on FriHost is driving the coolest car around?

wish I had one but the only one in this province... where they were made... is the family of the pot smoking premier at the time LOL.

the only one in PEI is a government official...

hmmm... trends?

I used to work on one quite regularly. I thought it was funny to see the speedometer cable attached to the left front wheel! Yes it's a VERY neat car to look at, and driving it is a lot of fun - mostly due to the fact that's it's so very different, but all in all I don't think I'd want to own one.

They aren't especially durable, nor quick, nor mechanically sound.. so other than a "show off" vehicle there really isn't much point.

but that is the whole point of any classic car (insert your definition of classic here). I have an MG TD and it isn't durable (although roughly 1/3 of all 1950s MGs are still registered), certainly isn't quick and nothing with lucas electrics is mechanically sound. But is always turns heads, so guess it is definitely a show off car.

I think a Delorean is a definite statement of style over substance.
