Does anyone know how to use john the ripper for cracking password hashes? I need to get into a mysql database at work and the developer who configured it left a couple of years ago and didn't leave the admin password with anyone. I really need to get into the db to dump the data before I blow away that machine and reinstall the linux server. I have no idea how to use the john the ripper program, but I think a brute force crack would work.
