two days ago i started listening to system of a down..
i liked their sond and i never heard of them before...
so... what do you guys think of this ban?

I like them they have some pretty catchy songs..and they're about the heaviest I can stand. I love the silly Zelda theme song -song they did.
Oh, I like them, they have a great expression of chorus.
First time I know them was a video clip, two college student acted to sing the "Chop Suey!", that's interesting.
beside "Chop Suey!", I like "Radio/Video" very much~
I like their most recent works better than the older stuff... still, it's not something I'd listen to every day, but once in a while it's very nice. Their songs are extremely catchy, I find myself repeating Holy Mountains or Question! all day after hearing it just once.

The Zelda song wasn't by System of a Down, the band's singer just sounds a lot like Serj. 
Anyhoo, SOAD is one of my favorite bands. I have almost every album. I love how they have so much hidden meaning in the songs, and it's fun to listen and try to figure out what it is. For example, the song Violent Pornography is really about how TV is really going downhill and many people are being sucked in and brainwashed into thinking everything on it is real.

I think System of a Down have some really great songs. I'm not generally a fan of music as heavy as they play (in fact they are the only band who play that heavy that I will listen to) so I think for that they are something pretty special.
I like System of a Down, i think their songs are great and also i love that kind of music.
wait....which one is serj? the lead singer or guitarist?
Serj Tankian is the lead singer, Daron Malakian is the guitarist, Shavo Odajian is the bassist, and John Dolmayan is the drummer. They're all Armenian.
i see...i love the album mesmerize though. and there's one remix Serj made on Biggie Smalls (Notorious B.I.G.) - Who Shot Ya? is pretty amazing.
Chopsuey, Byob, Prison Song, Roulette ...whatever it may be...System of a Down rock to the core....
I think my favorite song has to be sugar by SOAD, I think it has something to do with nuclear wars or something, but it sounds really good! I would agree that a lot of their stuff has a lot of meaning in them.
They're not exactly my cup of tea, but if you like the Hard Rock with a good melody phrase mixed in, there's your System of a Down. Good band, I'm surprised you haven't heard of them before.

i think they got better with each album, except the last one Hypotize. the one before that (mesmerise) was better.

this seems to be the only band that i consistantly don't like. i mean i like rock and can take it fairly heavy for a hippy. but there sound seems to errk me. every time i hear them i am like who is this band, and what is the crap they are playing? hehehe although it seems that most of my friends seem to think they are good. don't figure
I liked them, still do too. Back when I was listening to bands like Korn, Metallica, and such, I was really into them. But then I got into DM and BM, so I slowly stopped listening to them.
A great band actually
Toxicity album have a good songs in it. Very good lyrics (Chopsuey, The Prison Song)..
Maybe, I'll appreciate the Mesmerize soon enough when I'll play it over and over again, It seems I haven't got the message of out it though.

SOAD is a good alternation to 'normal' Metal. can't decide which is the best album, edging towards the first one though, self titled. love that 1

I generally don't like 'normal' metal (if by that you mean bands like korn and slipknot) unless it's alternative or has more melody in some way, like A7X and SOAD. I like classic metal a lot though.I pretty much have their entire collection! Love their songs in particular Toxicity, Chop suey, question are all awesome!! Too bad they are in a hiatus 
will take sometime before we get to see a new album from SOAD I've always liked them right from the first album. Their music has varied a fair bit but it still retains what made them great in the first place. Arguably the first album was a lot more aggressive than later offerings though.
