They will be. Be Patient or submit your article url to google.
You can build links using the following methods:-
1) Directory submission - List of free directories can be found http://www.directorycritic.com/free-directory-list.html
2) Article Submission - http://www.beansoftware.com/Article-Sites-Master-List.aspx
3) social bookmarks - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=1831733&postcount=1
4) Link exchanges with the top hundred sites for your primary keyword.
5) Using Blogs
6) press releases
etc. etc.

I'm surprised that one would have to actually submit article links to Google in order to get the articles indexed. The articles that I submitted and got approved were indexed almost immediately. You should make sure you're submitting your articles to a reputable article directory (like ezinearticles.com)
Most of the time articles are indexed automatically But still have to submit sometimes where they aren't.
